You could have had a whole shed full of likes from me for that because it is the most pertinent post we will get this window.
Genuinely confused how you say what you do about luck or poor judgement, shipping goals and confidence, yet still say Marshall is the best keeper we have. Is that stats, blunders, performances or what: because if it is while he has been with us (and judge Jak over the same period) then you are wrong, surely? I agree the whole team has to be considered but GK are usually judged on individual error, just as Jak was (unfairly) and I can't see how Marshall is an exception.
Yeah it looks like its 100% done. Sky are outside the training ground now reporting its all been finalised, already referring to him as the new Mourinho.. They say our fans can expect "An attacking style of football, likes to play a high-pressing game". They go on to say its a bit of a gamble as he hasnt played in England before but wherever he's been in the past he's done very well. Also confirmed as bringing his own back room staff with him. All this talk of a 1.5 year deal doesnt make much sense to me though.... hopefully its more.
With Bruce it used to be a 1 year rolling deal - so we have history of short term deals which often suits both parties. I'd guess it's more of a 6 month deal with a 1 year option. It may be that if we stay up, then the 'new owner' could offer him a bumper deal.
Good piece... Hull City: Missing The Point, Again http://twohundredpercent.net/hull-city-missing-point/
Yep this is spot on. People can go on about formations and players being in their 'correct' positions but this is something far more important. If you lack certain skills you're ****ed. And a striker who can get behind defences is one of the most important. Even if all it does it put defences under a bit more pressure. When we clear the ball out we need someone chasing the lost causes at speed. Often they're not lost causes after all. Defences playing against us are way too comfortable. Even if it just forces them into a backpass rather than launching it straight back into our box which is still full of players from the previous attack; just getting that time for our defence to get out and re-organise is very important. Everton was a perfect example. Wave after wave and then eventually of course we concede the equaliser. You can hold an inquiry into why we didn't defend the 45th cross into the box but why where there so many? Because every time we cleared it there was no pressure on their defenders picking it up and sending it straight back again. We were pinned back.
High pressing game requires extremely fit quick players, have we got them. Klopp plays the same and has taken over a year to get Liverpool players to that standard. We don't have the time, unless players come in. (which will have its own issues)
I think Marshall is the better keeper. He is underperforming and should be dropped. Jakupovic is a more nervious watch. Reaction wise, I think he Jakupovic has the edge. But distribution, goal kicks and throws out, Marshall seems to be better. The thing is we need a shot stopper and I would go with Jakupovic.
We do have quite a few very fit, energetic players though... Robertson, Livermore, Dio etc.. you could imagine us being ok with a high pressing game with a couple of additions.
Not sure if it's been posted but the mirror are claiming that silva is down to a Chinese consortium trying to buy the club , money to spend but not sure how much
Plenty of activity over the back fence. Must admit I can't see any SKY wagons but the carpark is rammed. Groundstaff are doing their usual stuff but no-one out on the pitches as such. Would love to walk round and give a better more detailed report but I'm on sick and if the boss finds out then I'm in the brown stuff.
There were two Chinese chaps on Paragon Station on Saturday am (morning after Everton ) with briefcases , suitcases and new black and amber scarves waiting for the London train
"Silva’s name has been put forward to the Tigers' hierarchy by a group also involved in a potential takeover." http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/marco-silva-offered-hull-city-9562877
The logic seems a bit strange though. If we go down and they buy us and he leaves then.. they find a new manager?
