We don't unless osbourne forces an austerity budget and is defeated in the commons. I would assume that right now theres a huge power battle about to happen and boris the mad bastard will want to just borrow massive sums to get by rather than deal with the reality. the FTSE has preprogrammed trades this morning dropping the index by 9%. its trading back up a bit.. as of now its 259 points down. this is 3rd worst fall in the FSTE. 1987 was the worst at 12% or more. this was worse than 2008.... we need that perspective. however in 2008 there were several shcoks of big size in a row that really caused the damage. I think we need to reflect on this as a bad day and see what happens next. We might be able to sustain that one drop but if we see on going shocks as the market reacts to news as it comes thats going to hurt badly.
I won't celebrate the demise of the Conservative party when what rises from its ashes is likely to be even more right wing. Echoes of '75 all over again. I'm often perplexed as to why people in this country seem to be so in love with the US. Seems it's because we're just as much a bunch of short-sighted rednecks as they.
ah no now... you are going to far... the types who've voted leave would build an empire for her majesty all over again. no question. corbyn now would like a communist dictatorship though...
you are probably right. I think its just we are jealous of the french and thier weather, holidays, arrogance, public services and of course working conditions... and its like but they surrendered and we liberated them.. look at them... its our fault we sat on the side and grumbled while others improved themsevles
Asked the same..been trying to find some as a lot of people including press are jumping on this. Obviously the point holds for anyone under 18. But I want to see a breakdown not only of Remain/leave split but age breakdowns of who voted compared to split of % of population who COULD vote... As I said...I'll not feel sorry for any age group that had a low turn out.
TBF though we've been running the scheme at an admin loss for 3 years so we could pass the savings on to schools: the funding hasn't actually paid that 20% of my salary in that time..I'm assuming the scheme will stop and it's not even close to my whole job so who knows...
any prospects of that being replaced by a tory scheme? I would expect seriously.. and not wumming you but.. I'd expect some announcement of serious curtailing of spending into the Uk from EU in those special areas and research etc. I mean until there's some agreements on leave.. well uncertainty reigns I think we should also see that we are now wide open to attack from elements within the EU. the leaving mechanism is article 50 "Article 50 of the Treaty provides a legal framework for EU member states seeking to leave the Union. Once a Head of State has notified the Council of its intent to leave the EU, a negotiation period begins during which a leaving agreement is to be negotiated outlining the country's future relationship with the Union. The country seeking to leave the Union will be required to secure support from at least 72 percent of the continuing member states representing at least 65 percent of their population, as well as consent from the European Parliament. So Cameron has to tell them formally then negotiations begin... the reality is that negotiation is about begging not demanding. it need 72% (odd number?) of member stats so thats 19 states to you and me. And those 19 states must include a 2/3rd majority of eu population... ie germany france, italy etc.... and then the EU parliment must vote for it too SO.... negotiation = giving 19 EU states what they want.... not demanding anything big reality check needed aorund britian... I would assume they feel that for democratic face no state would dare... but i think many states will want to hamstring britain and its dog eat dog economically now.
well... do domestic cuts stem from losing EU funding.. after all every penny saved from EU goes to NHS but there can be the case now the redistribution of fund back into UK were for more beneficial things and the tories will just use them all to slash tax and not care about R&D, good causes, social issues etc. We need an election... badly.
This is the double edged sword...can we have an election we would trust, if the parties can't put forward manifestos with economic policies that mean anything until the negotiations with the EU have finished? Until the legal frameworks are untangled how can our parties say who will do what and how it will be funded?
As long as those cuts affect those that can well afford it its all good, the Tories or who ever might replace them in a general election won't get away with panning the poor so easily next time around.
no. its purely down to political advantage. we'd be electing left or right.. and saying we want you or you to negotiate this leaving do. do you want an election to allow mad boris take the lead with nigel as his best bud or do you want corbyn to roll over for eu.
I'm laughing at the pundits being perplexed about a low turn out in the nationalist population when they were "supposed" to be for remain...except their general goal is a United Ireland so why would they care if the UK is in or out of the EU? If we stayed fine and well and if exit as we have already seen they will use the result as a call for a border referendum. More so called experts talking ****e lol
Fair enough so another election based on promises from people about what they'll theoretically get in negotiations...sounds familiar lol
