I think this is the thing - I believe Brexit would be very beneficial but only in the long run. It will take a while and a lot of struggles before we get to optimum levels.

    There you go jimmy.

Make of that what you will... certain corporations are for us leaving as they think they will save costs on not having to implement stupid regulations set by the EU (of which i have seen many in the IT industry, helps me keep a job though). On the one hand it might mean that they can influence government more easily by the tone it sets (not that they can't do that on a European level by these democratically elected EU Commision... oh wait...)

Obviously they won't be falling over themselves and they will be pretty angry.... but then again there is always the 24 billion pounds that we are currently handing over in our trade deficit...

And the fragile position the EU economy finds itself in, attempting to avoid Deflation with wild economic measures like loads of quantitative easing by the ECB announced earlier this year.

Let's not even think about the fact that the ECB actually is actually using negative interest rates.....

On the flip side - given that the UK is the EU's biggest export market, I would assume trade contracts would be 'easier' to renegotiate?

The UK accounts for circa 16% of EU exports, whereas the EU accounts for 45% of ours......so who's more important to who?

(and that excludes service industries and 80% of our economy is service based)

The Brexit camp are chucking around stats without context or comparatives, it's pissing me right off, as it's genuinely misleading people.

Yes but at the same time to think that 46 percent figure is going to just going to become 0 is ridiculous as well. Does cameron piss you off as well when he goes on about how the eu is totally democratic or that we can reduce migration in the eu or when he says we dont have to pay benefits to migrants for 4 years (whether you are for or against this policy is a different matter) when actually after 3 months they get jsa and tax credits

    Who said that like?

It's about who's got the bigger potential risk, and it's not the EU

They can't claim housing benefit btw and after 3 months of JSA they lose that benefit unless they provide compelling evidence that they have a genuine prospect of work - such as a job offer.....you're believing the nonsense being floated around by flop head and his fellow right wing balloons mate.

All that said, it is bloody funny to see Cameron mauled on a biased Murdoch organ vox-pop after the way Milliband was stitched up by Crosbie and the 'Treasury note' during last year's election:

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/201...ebate-david-cameron-quizzed-live-on-sky-news/

Pretty obvious were it's going now. I took the train to and from Blackburn yesterday to see Buzz Aldrin at some school there. Overhearing the conversations as they plied through their Suns and Stars, it's obvious where the Wayne and Waynetta vote is going. Just hope they're too pissed to get out of bed to vote. It's like The Brothers Grimsby watching an England game in the pub seeing them taking in a TV debate on the subject.

Apathy amongst the bigots appears to be the best hope for sanity at present mate.

    Sad times.

And all this because Cameron shat himself that UKIP were going to split the Tory vote at the last election so chucked in the referendum to burst their balloon

I think honestly the view that

    a) if you are in the out camp you are already decided
    b) if you don't know... well you are more likely to either not vote or vote stay.. you need strong feelings on it to go leave.
    c) if you've decided stay you certainly are not going to be convinced by boris et al.

    So....

    https://ig.ft.com/sites/brexit-polling/

    46% stay
    43% leave
12% undecided (yes the financial times cannot count)

so...... really... it should be close but i'd not be shocked to see a 10 point win here 55/45 for stay.
