Terrible statement just issued by South Yorkshire Police Federation...

South Yorkshire Police Federation is aware of today’s Independent Office for Police Conduct report into the Hillsborough disaster.

The report is a significant waste of taxpayers' time and taxpayers' money.

It is not fair or balanced.

Former police officers - some of whom are very elderly and some who have sadly passed away - do not have any kind of due process or the ability to formally respond to the allegations made in this report.

These are opinions of the IOPC essentially being dressed up as statements of almost fact. We emphasise that these are just allegations. Our former colleagues do not have and have not had the right to reply to any accusations.

They should not face trial by media.

It is with this context that we should rightly question the value of this much delayed report and its multi million pound cost to the public purse.

This report doesn't help anybody involved in the Hillsborough disaster.

Our thoughts remain with all those affected by this terrible tragedy.

Talk about tone deaf/reading the room :headbang:

Is that it now with Hillsbrough then? Solely the fault of South Yorkshire plod? I know they were massively to blame and they covered up their part.

Genuine question though? And I’m honestly not trying to rile anything up. Why is there never any responsibility taken for all the scousers who turned up without tickets and forced their way into the ground?

Police, fans, the F.A., and Sheffield Wednesday were all to blame.

Ask yourself where you got that information from. That SYP lie was dispelled by the first Taylor Report published a couple of months after the semi-final.
Lord Chief Justice Taylor would not allow evidence be given by publicans who overheard conversations of football fans of their intentions to gain access to the ground!

It’s a very emotive subject and I’m not privy to any information that can be proven one way or another. However I do know plenty of Liverpool fans who openly say there were many fans turned up that day without tickets with the sole intention of rushing the gates/sneaking in. They also do it on big European away nights to this day, whether than be sneaking in or trying to use counterfeit tickets. That one blows my mind given their history.
