He didn't get his usual battering, but his lay-offs for the two 2nd-half goals weren't at all bad. N'Guessan looked more a striker than a winger to me, and I wonder if he'd have been more help to BWP when he was chasing all those through balls on his own?

    Fair statement!

But don't you don't want promotion now, now now?

Just looked at Sheff Utds run in, and think they are quite capable of 18 points out of 24, which takes them to a total of 91.

If this were the case, 10 points should do it, but I wouldn't feel comfortable aiming for anything less than 15 points being honest (5 wins).

Basically 4 wins and 3 draws makes us home n' hosed. If some feel thats a bit rich, 4 wins and 4 losses would surely do the same. It's ours boys, accept it, we have 3 wins ahead of them. 3 wins/3 draws and we'd be sitting pretty. All scenarios leave us as the chapmions ! Let yourself believe, pop the bubbly !

Yep, too far ahead now - with too few games remaining for others to catch us up.
    I've got...
    Udd 0
    Orient 3 (calm any nerves)
    Oldham 1
    Walsall 1
    Carlisle 0
    Wycombe 3 (confirm promotion)
Preston 3 (we win the title)
    Hpool 3 (collect the trophy)

Total of 14 points - makes 96 points in all - and thats being conservative.
How about that for confidence. !

Hamer 5.5 - One terrible goal kick where he had all the time in the world but kicked it straight to their attacker. Another point where he held the ball in the palm of one hand whilst a Yeovil player was directly behind/beside him and almost got it off him. Failed to catch quite a few long shots, and Yeovil really seemed to be trying to expose his various weaknesses throughout the game. One great long ball to Wiggins though.

Solly 7 - wasn't his best game for us, made one or two errors but closed down very well and put a lot of pressure on strikers/wingers.

Cort 7.5 - Very strong in the air whilst defending and swept up every loose ball. Seems very intelligent on the pitch. Only flaw was his inability to keep shots from corners nearer to the goal rather than hitting row Z every time.

Morrison 6.5 - Seemed more anonymous next to Cort but that's no fault of his own. Every thing he had to do, he did do. A few hiccups, one of which was similar to the mistake he made against Scunny at the weekend.

Wiggins 6.5 - was very competent when attacking but sadly at times he had to try and take on about three players at once, didn't get as much support as he's used to. Good assist for the third goal (though the most credit for that one should really go to Kermit).

Wagstaff 6 - run tirelessly all game, put in a few crosses though sadly none reached their target. His pace was quite dangerous but sadly as always, he failed to go past the full-backs. His tackle during their free-kick move was brilliant.

Russell 7 - really got stuck in all game. Tackled well, was excellent in the air and went forward well too. His passing was decent and it was a well taken goal.

Hollands 7.5 - seemed more like his start of season self. The captaincy seemed to do wonders for him as he really got stuck into his tackling and harassed their midfield. Perhaps he stayed back a bit much though at times.

N'Guessan 6.5 - his goal was perhaps one of my favourite I've seen in recent years, don't care if it was a fluke! He was generally harassing Yeovils midfield and defence with his strength and pace and showed great close control. Sadly he kept drifting into the middle, meaning there was little support/a lot of pressure for Wiggins.

Kermorgant 7.5 - Didn't win as much in the air is normal, but still got his fair share of headers. Maintained his 'warrior' persona in the first half, by leaping into an aerial-challenging, clashing heads and ending up needing the physio on, then the first thing he does when he gets on is throw himself into another aerial-challenge. His hold up play was immense, and his contribution for the second and third goal really needs a mention!

BWP 7.5 - was a constant threat, chasing every ball and holding up the ball to bring other players into the game. A brilliantly taken goal. In case anyone missed it on the OS, BWP is the first Charlton striker for 12 years to score 20 league goals apparently.

Green 6.5 - as always, his crossing was a threat when he came on, as were his throw in's.

Referee 7 - did very little wrong all game. Disagreed with him on one or two decisions but for the most part he got things right and wasn't trigger-happy with his cards.

Yeovil fans 3 - good on them for making the long journey to The Valley, but a song would have been nice...

They didn't need to sing, they had a cow bell!

Am i the only one who thought yeovil weren't that great? They seemed to just shoot everytime they were 20-30 yards from goal, even when they could have played a pass and been in a much better possition to score!

Our 2nd and 3rd goals were class, slightly annoyed n'gussen scored, mainly as my house mate had been winding me up about how bad he is and he'll never score, and i was one click away from betting on him scoring...blast!

They kept the ball well, but not in positions where I thought they would hurt us. Agree completely about the long range shots!

Yeovil obviously tried to pepper our goal with shots because they had been reading the thread on here about Hamer and his lack of confidence.

Perhaps Skiverton's new role is to peruse the oppo's forums and look for the weak links...!

PSSSSSSSSSSSTT! Message to 'Udders-the way to beat us is to bombard Morro and Taylor/Cort with long, high balls, but don't say I told you!

I see on the OS, Russell claims "we need 95 points". That is the amount I forecast we would get when we all made our predictions early December and the total points garnered since then exactly match my forecast (although my individual match forecasts were hopeless) so it is still my prediction. We would need to win our four remaining home games and pick up one away point (or the equivalent). That is all very doable, but by no means a walk in the park.

Although this is only given as Russell's opinion, I don't think he would have published it if it wasn't the general view in the squad. Of course, CP can only publicly state "we are out to win every match".

Another point to note is that, out of our eight remaining games, four of them will be against teams with nothing to play for as regards promotion/relegation. Of course, the same applies to our rivals but, as long as we keep ratching up the points total, it doesn't matter if they gain a few more than us. Better that than eight "do-or-die" matches where the unexpected could happen.

One small downside with that target is that if things go better than expected and we pick up the 13 points fairly quickly, we could slack off for the remaining games and throw matches away, but that is the least of my worries.

Also, they'd do well to not bother marking Bradley Wright-Phillips...

As for Yeovil, heard about the cowbell but didn't see/hear it as I'm in the North-Upper.

In terms of them shooting from a distance, that would probably be a combination of them knowing Hamer is weak at saving long-shots as well as being incapable of getting past Cort and Morrison.

Ponders, the comment about Skiverton probably isn't far from the truth, consider he gets his fans to compile scout reports for him <laugh>

I remember Brighton not winning any of their remaining games once they won the league.

But then they went on a 10+ game unbeaten run before that!

Nah, the way to get to us is to attack down the left wing , after all, we all know our right back is shiite. - but dont tell them that.
