Mate, you know i respect you as a poster, but what a load of bollocks.

If Manchester United had won the league by a point they'd still be champions.

Whether we beat you, over the season, matters not whether it was the last 45 mins, the last nano second whatever.

We did beat you over the season, the gap is immaterial.

As for '7 gifted points', if you are that desperate for straw i'll give you some.

What about 13 injuries at once, 1 win in 11?

You can package a turd anyway you want, when you open the wrapping it's still a turd.

We won the war, let's not dwell on it, and look forward to next season.

Rolling out all these 'this, that, but' bollocks is just a wee bit ****ing pathetic.

Got one of those from Christmas from an ex girlfriend. Wasn't impressed.

Didn't ask her mate... Afraid I didn't keep it otherwise I'd have sent it to you.

Got a collection going?

Still dont get the luck involved, its football, we were pushing to get a goal, they scroed an own goal instead, or gave away a pen, big deal, suprised you didnt bring gyans goal into this against you tbh

Spent millions? we havnt, stoke and bolton have spent more btw, and you dont even have to mention Man City, Liverpool and Spurs.

Who said anything about Europe, yes it looked good mid way through the season, but our remit was always top 10, which we have achieved.

An awful lot of mackems seem to enjoy saying it.

Anyway, it's down to pure pot luck this season. One point ahead, we have -1GD, you guys have -11 and so on. On different days there would have been different results for both teams and the positions would have been different. For example, you guys have gained 7 points ONLY from either own goals or penalties this season. So for those 7 points, you can credit other teams for ****ing their own match up. We've also had good luck and bad luck in similar situations.

I know if I was a mackem and I thought Sunderland would go above, I'd wait until there's a clear undisputed difference in the table. A big gap. No excuses. No luck. Just purely a better team. That has yet to happen though and I don't think that any sensible mackem can say it has. On our return, we were pipped to the post by the last 45 mins of the entire season. Next season should be a lot better in-terms of competing, and I'm looking forward to it.

That's the problem though mate, your reasonable and take it or dish it out as need be good on you, but the jokers and 5-1 of these boards only want to cause grief, it riles people up enough to want revenge, i have even read an article when you criticised them good on you, for me your always welcome as your input is good, thanks for that.

Well said. The one called 5 - 1 actually accused one of ours of not being constructive in a post yesterday. Hypocrite? I think so.

Loads and loads and loads of mackems? And you've spent a lot more than us.

As for Gyan's goal, some say it was a fluke, some don't. Only he will know.

Cheers.

Well I THINK all of this 'top dogs' **** has died down now, so that'll be that until the new season rolls around. Hey, without no constant competition for a couple of months due to the season break, perhaps some of us will become best online chums.

You want the Top Dog posts to die down and then go on to mention chum?

not that i want to stoke an argument that seems to have died down, but i just can't let this little gem go -

"If Man Utd won the league by a point, they'd be champions, but would they be the best team in the EPL?"

yes.

Losing 23 points from winning positions is entirely your teams fault. Just as how us losing from 3-0 up on Sunday was our fault.

However, 7 points were gained entirely from ****-ups by other teams:

Sunderland vs Bolton - A Bolton own goal with only a few seconds of injury time - 2 extra points there
Sunderland vs Villa - You guys got another win because of an own-goal by Dunne - another 2 extra points
Sunderland vs Man City - They gave away a penalty in the 4th minute of injury time - another 2 extra points
Sunderland vs Birmingham - An own goal and a penalty meant that you guys drew at 2-2

That's a LOT of points and I wish we had that this season. I think we managed to get 3 points which were gifted in the same way. I was actually quite disappointed when we played Birmingham because we only won due to a penalty - despite dominating the game.

But I suppose that won't make this 'almighty victory' any less hollow for you guys. It would concern me though most definitely. You guys had dreams of Europe and spent loads of cash, yet it took a nice batch of luck and one single point to overtake us by the skin of your teeth when we've just came up. Victory? Celebration? I'd find that quite disappointing.

Anyway, this season has been WEIRD in every respect for all teams. Ridiculously tight. I think this will just be an anomaly though and things will go back to normal next season when all of the teams have brought in some new players.

I was actually a bit apprehensive when you guys stopped playing with strikers. Keeping in the same formation with Gyan got you nowhere, but the new formation without any recognised strikers seemed to start working.

I have to say I am impressed with how much you know about Sunderland, I know **** all about Newcastle, are you really one of us??

yep Syd marra that just caught my eye

In my opinion, which is always correct, finishing above us would only matter were you to qualify for europe and we didn't.

At the end of the day lads, you have achieved very little this year and have seemed to hit a plateau in terms of progression, whether Bruce is the man to take you forward I dunno, maybe not. One thing that is for certain though is that this summer is going to be massive for both clubs as we both need to improve.

<party>

Also Chappaz, you forgot about the perfectly good goal Arsenal had disallowed when they ripped them a new one at the Emirates, and the jammy late Gyan goal against us.

and of course you never had any luck all season LOL

No. There are so many factors outside of team quality which dictate how a season goes - including bare luck. In terms of 'team quality' and who is the 'better team' the EPL results are rarely ever an accurate representation.

In fact, I'd say Man Utd have had quite a poor season and are very lucky that Chelsea floundered for a while. Man Utd's home record is epic, but their away record is very poor and nowhere near the other top 4 teams.

I have to say I am impressed with how much you know about Sunderland, I know **** all about Newcastle, are you really one of us??

I just like football - regardless of which team it is. Plus, the BBC Sports website is a handy little thing.

We've been ****ing **** for luck this season. The goal Jonas scored with his arse is the only lucky break I can remember in a LONG time. I'd take Sunderland's lucky breaks this season any day of the week, because we'd probably be 8th.
