Iran got missiles that can hit UK, one thing that has come out of this that annoyed me was one of the experts on sky saying this, and that UK had no interceptor to stop them. It not like our main enemy Russia has had weapons that could hit UK for over 50 years. We have been hiding under US coattails for a long time it seem.Lets imagine that Iran perfects a neuclear Bomb, AND has an effective delivery system.
What's the risks and to whom.
It is hard to concieve that they will have long range rockets capable of reaching Europe, never mind the USofA.
So the countries most at risk are their neighbours.
And given the outlook of their Shia leadership, Isreal most of all.
Iran has been the main supporter of the Freedom Fighters/Terrorists who have been constantly attacking Isreal for years and it;s no surprise that it is Isreal that seems to be taking the opportunity to protect it's future here.
This is a local War, and not likely to escallate.
If the President of The USofA wants to put his country's troops on the front line, thats his business.
He must justify that to his fellow countrymen if he feel the need too.
So FAR, our PM has declined to get as involed.
I'm on his side.
I look at a few sources, and yes the BBC is one of them. Perhaps the best (in my opinion) is Shashank Joshi, the Defence Editor at The Economist.Well I hope it’s not from the BBC or the Australian ABC cos we know how liberal they can be with the truth![]()
I just don’t really trust mainstream media tbh. Channel 7 Perth over here said today “Donald Trump admits that the war isn’t going to plan”. Then the actual report said nothing of the sort. They based that headline on his quote of “I’m surprised they’re bombing neutral countries”.I look at a few sources, and yes the BBC is one of them. It is but that is not the point I was making as you probably know. Trump undid a lot of the good stuff Obama did. That’s what you get with right wing populism.Obama hasnt been in office since 2017, 9 years is a long time to build a mankind ending bomb
But Starmer hasn’t and that’s why the orange mess is off on one.as soon as SKS gets the UK added to this then we will be targets
the yanks are fuming that he has taken them to war, after saying he would be president of no wars.
its scary prospect we are all living,
luckily I think im to old be called up to the army
It depends upon Turkey invoking Article 5 and that might not happen if the missile hits an empty field or a pro-kurdish area.If this had of hit Turkey, I assume NATO go all in?
You must log in or register to see media
Its bloody close though isn't it? Does it depend on Turkey invoking article 5 or can one of the nations do it onntheir behalf if they are incapableIt depends upon Turkey invoking Article 5 and that might not happen if the missile hits an empty field or a pro-kurdish area.
Im sure we've got one of the best deterrent to any attack mate. Top of the tree being the Vanguard fleet with the Trident nuclear missile interceptor which has at least 1 sub patrolling at all times. Despite our numbers seriously dwindling in the military, we're still one of the best trained armed forces in the world with decent kit.Iran got missiles that can hit UK, one thing that has come out of this that annoyed me was one of the experts on sky saying this, and that UK had no interceptor to stop them. Can we just hold off long enough until after we've won the cup and qualified for Europe?Only one winner in that event …
… in time nature would recover the planet and things would drastically improve.
We’re slowly killing the planet, at least a nuclear war would put a stop to that.
We have got one of the best deterrent yes against Russia China, but against countries like Iran nuclear will never be used.Im sure we've got one of the best deterrent to any attack mate. Just as Turkey intercepted a missile yesterday, I'm confident the UK would be able to recognise and intercept any launch towards us in plenty of time. Although I feel we would likely do this over water so it would look close to a lot of people but the reality would be it was done with time and accuracy.

Something I have just read, but on The Internet, so I can not guarantee the truth of it.Iran got missiles that can hit UK, one thing that has come out of this that annoyed me was one of the experts on sky saying this, and that UK had no interceptor to stop them. Defense Intelligence Agency estimate of Iranian missile range.Something I have just read, but on The Internet, so I can not guarantee the truth of it.
'At the moment, major European capitals such as London and Paris are out of range for the missiles. Iran would need Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles (ICBMs), which it has not yet deployed or tested over longer distances.'
However, I can not remember reading of Iran ever testing long range misiles for distance and accuracy, so I do think it is probably true.
Then there is the practical adspect of ICBMs being aimed, from Iran to UK.
They travel in direct lines, so would pass over a number of European Counties on their journey.
Long before they came to the attention of RAF Fylingdales, they would have trigered the attention of anti-misile defences across the continent.
