I’m flabbergasted at how some are defending Putin… even justifying Russias actions.
Never since the Nazi’s steamrollered into Poland has a country violated another country’s sovereignty.
Also to call Russia a democratic is laughable. When the dictator kills or imprisons potential rivals it’s hardly surprising he gets such large majorities… much like North Korea…. I have to assume that you were being sarcastic

how does one become a Putin apologist for simply appreciating the factors and dare say nuances that led to the conflict!l? Factors and nuances that go beyond simply ‘Putin bad’.

you can simultaneously be opposed to the war whilst recognising that this did not start in 2022 and the whole thing has been escalating since 2014 if not before, these are not mutually exclusive view points.
 
I did notice at the recent CPAC conference, that the Argentine PM was front and center on stage with Musk.... Its only a matter of time before The Orange Moron demands we hand the Falklands to the Argies..... It will NEVER happen....happen to know what oil lies just offshore, in the next 20/30 years, that area will be a cash cow for the UK

You must hve issed my post, (2069).


However it also addresses your point that I have highlighted.
So I'll repeat it.
In a 1997 treaty between the Russian Federation and Ukraine, Russia recognized Ukraine's borders, and accepted Ukraine's sovereignty over Crimea

So how does this fit into your assertions?
You may also like to explain why just prior to Russia invaiding it's neighbour, President Putin made a number of Public Statements denying that this would be done.

When I say explain, I don't for a moment sugest that you will know what goes on in The Kremlin.
But I do wonder how you reconcile your views in the face of these facts?

it’s the exact same as merkel saying Minsk 2 was never about peace but giving nato time to re arm and train Ukraine.

additionally this is 1997, what happened in 2014 that brought about the annexation?

Putin is hell bent on re creating the Old Soviet, he was a KGB officer during the breakup of the USSR and by all accounts its his burning desire to get some of this land back....If he gets away with Ukraine then the likes of Moldova, Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania and even Poland are in his cross hairs... He has to be stopped. Instead, the fat Orange rapist is acting as a mouthpiece for him...

While I don't see the two situations as being the same at all, you SEEM to be espousing the line that 'two wrongs would make a right'.
A very dubious philosophy in my view.

It's not unlke The Wagner Group, where Russian legislation explicitly prohibits "illegal armed formations and mercenary groups", but at the same time the Russian state does not.

..... but if the Argies do their homework they might use rubber dinghys instead of Belgranos

Two wrongs don't make a right, but if you can't see the timeline of events in a crescendo like fashion leading to the events of Feb 2022 I'm not sure what to say. Just because one can see reasons for Russia invading in 2022 simply beyond 'Putin bad' does not make one an apologist, appeaser or war supporter, nor do said reasons make said actions right, they're simply justifications that lie in the realms of reality and not conjecture, fantasy or lunacy.

One can simultaneously be anti-war whilst recognising said justifications and ultimately actions being politics by other means and simply a binary result of actions result in consequences and this whole episode, dating back to arguably the 90s has illustrated as such. A series of actions by both sides, in turn responded to by the other with a greater degree of seriousness, resulting in a timeline of increasing escalations in a crescendo like fashion leading to the inevitability of February 2022.

Now you've done it, Miliband will give the falklands to the Argie's then buy oil off them as buying oil from abroad has lower downstream emissions the using our own oil.
