I guess in one way or another looking at it historically the majority of us are a displaced population (ask any indigenous people) at some point we have to find a way to inhabit the earth together but invariably greed ,power, and corruption tend to be the driving factors, people want to argue about who's god is better or who has the best holy book or whatever they can find to argue about and the truth is all it does is make the rich richer and the poor dead on a battle field. If people were united we are stronger than any government so unity of the masses is not what any government want. If we as "the people" cant agree on simple things it keeps the governments and politicians in power.
Disagreement in the populous means we are easier to manipulate and control and as much as we may not like to admit it governments and the media use this to their advantage more than we all realise.
I have to be honest mate, I don't feel manipulated or controlled by the media or the government ...

I was generalising in the main but in the past the media convinced the general population that Jimmy Saville was a beloved entertainer and a charity hero and as we know that was far from the truth. The Government will have us convinced that we need to pay more taxes because of inflation or the lack of trade agreements or for our own health or any other reason, they tell us they are not privitising the NHS but it is slowly being privatised bit by bit. There is a massive scandal in this country where we are actively being encouraged not to use cash to the point that a lot of companies do not accept cash any more (domioes pizza as an example). bit by bit our freedoms are slowly being eroded and that is just this country. The politicians will fight and bicker about any issue other than the real issues like where does the road tax really go and are you sure that all our money is really going into the NHS. They campaign and try to win elections based around immigration when the real scandal is the waste of our money on frivolous ideas thought up by highly paid ministers in government think tanks with no idea what the people of our country need but like magicians the newspapers and tv will be full of some bloke eating a kangaroo's cock on I'm a celebrity whilst atrocities in less favored countries are relegated to a small section on page10 if they are even reported (look at the Mags love in). Yes there are a lot of people who see this and are aware enough to notice the sleight of hand, but there are enough idiots out there who believe all the **** that is funneled towards them without realising it as the crap it is and social media has made the spread of information/disinformation much easier and especially if it is rumours and conjecture.
I hope I am cynical enough to see it and not gullible enough to buy into it but you will have seen even on these forums that a lot of people these days will believe what they are told and even struggle to form there own opinion given facts in abundance.
From what I know about you on these pages you have worked all over the world and for some fairly influential people. I guess your a little like myself in that I try not to judge another person on somebody else opinion and will try and make my own mind up. I try to look at situations with an open mind and even look at it from a different perspective to try and gain understanding.
In short I think that in the whole you are able to understand the world today for what it is so manipulation or control has little effect on you, I was brought up during the miners strike which has left an indelible mark on me as to what governments and the media can do when it is required remember Orgreave or more recently Hillsborough(The millions taken out of the miners pension fund comes to mind when the pound crashed). just some examples of how the truth can and is manipulated to serve a purpose.

To help in this , I’m taking less notice of the media’s versions ( is it fact, conjecture , opinion , guesswork) of things I can do little about. Up until recently it was all Ukraine/Russia will bring on WW3- now it’s Israel /Palestine that’ll start WW3. The media in this country have become a shambles in my opinion. There are very few worthwhile newspapers left. I used to enjoy the guardian and the times, but no more. The guardian in particular has become a poor paper with too many opinion pieces passed off as news articles. The so called broadsheets are a shadow of what they once were in my opinion. The headline writers across the UK are even worse. I honestly think a lot of people read a headline, or an opinion piece, and take that as fact and off they go repeating it. Then you get things like GB News sprouting up, or people like Piers Morgan and Jeremy Clarkson making political statements.
The only 'newspaper' I trust in the main anymore is the economist. Even that has signs of becoming opinionated, but it is still mainly factual without bias. Politico is an interesting newish news source too. There may well be others out there worth searching out.

Hang on, just watching Sky News Coverage on the Israeli Hamas War and the Saudi Arabian Foreign Minister has just said they condemn the killing of all civilians. All civilians? Your own?
Just went on Flightradar24 app and spotted the track of a US Navy P8A Poseidon over south western Ukraine - Tuzlovski Lagoons National Park area (the bit of coastal Ukraine that blocks Moldova from the Black Sea coast.
This could be GPS Spoofing with US playing games with Russian Intelligence (or Russia doing it for propaganda purposes?); USN goofing and forgetting about civillian tracking or a real event with the US sending a deliberate message.
Whatever it was the plane's track did a delta v to return toward Romania then this part of the track vanished and the lane magically appeared in its racecourse pattern over Romania.

How can they not arrest people who are shouting we want to kill you, in your face but can arrest a 17year old lad who’s shouting obscenities about Bobby Charlton?

Sadly that's how it works and, to a degree, I can understand it. The police have to judge each situation on the circumstances and likely outcome.
The arrested lad was probably surrounded by decent people who wouldn't try to stop the arrested.
No one has to go near the protesters who are all of the same mind. If the police go steaming in I'd guess it would encourage more demonstrations.
I'd also guess that the Jewish protesters want revenge, and more deaths, but don't say so.
This is all horrendous and, somehow, Israel are destroying the obvious and justified sympathy they had at the start ...
... just my opinion and how I see it, I don't think much of either side at the moment.
