I reckon Russia has to be defeated ie move out of Ukraine regions they moved into a year or so ago.

If nothing else it will make the Russian people think twice about him and his actions, not to mention his government and international allies.
It restricts Putin's movements and makes the glimmer of a possibility of a coup shine just a little brighter.
