What a set of ****ers Russians are, they have completely debunked my opinion that they were tough bastards. Now their Defence Minister is crying that the attack on the fuel depot may hinder peace talks. What? So only the Russians are allowed to throw a punch? That’s the sort of fight they like don’t they? They only go for the one sided ones, however they may have picked on the wrong ones this time. I have no doubt that the Ukrainians are getting real time information from NATO with regards Russian movements and where and how to deploy. But fair play to their bravery, they are standing up for Europe here.
That helicopter was too close to the target explosion to have been part of a strike pair, plus they would have had to penetrate the Russian air defence zone - and one thing you would bet your house on would be that the Russian radar net still works and their controllers would be able to spot an intruder.
My bet is this is false propaganda. It could be aimed at justifying increasing the war effort (maybe to try and get Belarusians on side) or it could be aimed at their own population, getting them to back the war (including getting people to join the armed forces - saw a tweet the other day showing their Govt had the utility companies print 'join the army' type adverts on their bills, etc).
It could also be aimed at foreigners to try and justify the Russian aggression.
Interesting. If he had thyroid cancer and was being treated with highly active radioactive iodine then he'd have to keep people at a safe distance - especially foreign dignitaries/diplomats who might have a radiation exposure film badge in their pockets
Yes , a few outlets saying that it's Russia on Russia disguised as Ukrainian. Who knows though with the amount of ****e they spout.

Sorry for missing out my usual aircraft activity report but I've been out all day and I'm just scanning through today's tracks.Something of interest, not new (I've seen this a few times now) but I thought I'd bring this bit of international cooperation to everyone's attention;
A Swedish ELINT plane (which I've also seen patrolling the sea just off Kaliningrad) flying along the Poland-Belorus/Ukraine border

Same plane back again today.
What has been puzzling me is that whatever the Swedish can do NATO will also be able to do.
NATO probably using a bigger aircraft that has more sensors that are also more accurate, has more staff to man the terminals, can carry more fuel so can stay on station longer and has air to air refueling capability.
So why have this non-NATO, Swedish ELINT plane flying in NATO airspace?
Suggestions anyone?
Didn't Putin or one of his cretins say something derogatory specifically about Sweden early on in the invasion? I'm sure that led to them sending some gear over to Ukraine despite usually being neutral
Checked it up and Russian foreign affairs spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on 1st March during a news briefing that
'Finland and Sweden should not base their security on damaging the security of other countries and their accession to NATO can have detrimental consequences and face some military and political consequences,'
Aye, that pissed the Swedes off and they sent a load of gear over for the Ukrainians when they were probably planning on staying out of it.
On Sunday 27 Feb the Swedish Prime Minister and Defence Minister held a press conference to announce that it would provide 5 000 anti-tank weapons, 5 000 body shields, 5 000 helmets and 135 000 field rations with a total value of SEK 400 million will increase its humanitarian aid to Ukraine by SEK 500 million.
Their PM stated that Sweden’s security is best served by supporting Ukraine’s ability to defend itself against Russia.
So that was before Russia's thinly veiled threat to Finland and Sweden about 'consequences' if the joined NATO.
Sweden's PM said they don't rule out sending more aid, which is ok as it goes but they have only sent what they announced in Feb and haven't sent any additional supplies yet.
Must have my timeline a bit off but directly naming Sweden hasn't gone down well. Finland upping their game to join NATO as well.
Aye, Putin has shown them both what the cost of neutrality can be when you have a warmongering imperialist as a neighbour - just as Belgium and Netherlands learned in the first half of the last century.
Even though he rattled his sabre toward the Baltic states my money would be on him subsuming Kazakhstan next - simply because it gives central Russia a direct border with China (rather than via Siberia) through which they can push a rail connection and maybe a road too.
I think the Kazak leadership is already a Putin ally, but I wouldn't be surprised to see a future "closer partnership" with Russia, just like Belarus now.
