I'm no fan of Trump but this is a ridiculous comment based on nothing but political bias. Trump didnt start any wars, he stopped them. He even somehow brought the leaders of North and South Korea together. This trouble we are seeing is down to the yanks, its always been their aim to destabilise and bring down Russia. Putin is defending his nations interests against US and NATO aggression which has been accumulating for decades.

Didn't Trump like nearly start WW3, because he ordered an assassination on some Iranian commander?

Anyway, how come people were not up in arms, when Russia basically walked into Georgia and claimed South Ossetia ?

I'm not sure the Russians could sustain a proper shooting war for very long. America would overwhelm them as long as China hedged it's bets and stayed out of it.

It's all about the asymmetry now. Economic, cyber etc.

It's all down to personalities and were they are in their political careers...both Putin and Bozo need a war to enhance their positions... as I've said, thank heavens Trump isn't in command of the USA

Putin has long coveted Ukraine. His behaviour is hardly a surprise. Johnson is only saying what the EU should also be saying, were they not so cravenly grovelling to Putin at every chance.

As for the US, no-one knows who is calling the shots there. If it really is Biden, then little wonder Putin is emboldened. The US has never looked, or behaved in a weaker manner in over a hundred years.

Next few days, will be very interesting... World is a very dangerous place right now. We had a few ballistic missiles headed towards Abu Dhabi Yesterday morning, but were took out over the city by Patriot Missiles..Not many places are safe right now.

You're probably right, but it's not soldier for soldier in modern warfare any more.

It isn't and even though the west cannot generally field an army as big as the likes of Russia, North Korea or China it really doesn't matter as we have much more efficient killing machines than man with a pointy stick running towards you. What the west really needs to do is develop a cheap weapon that can be used in great enough number to wipe out the enemy without bankrupting you. The wars being fought in the middle east for decades show this when the yanks are firing a $3 million missile to take out a bloke on the back of a pickup truck with a ****ty cold war machine gun nailed to the back.

Trillions of dollars wasted in Afghanistan doing just this and the country was turned over to the now well armed Taliban within 15 minutes of the last plane leaving the tarmac. They couldn't change the hearts and minds of the people who should have prevented that happening ultimately. You cannot eradicate the history of a nation no matter how much you want it to become a western democracy.

My concern in Ukraine is the Russians will walk in more or less unopposed and install their own government, I really am not sure Ukraines armed forces will stand up to the Russians and will fold like a house of cards once they pop over the border in great numbers. Then we are going to be dragged in to sort **** out and prevent the Russians becoming too bold in thinking they can just keep rolling west. Lets be honest who in Europe would stop them? The Germans have already nailed their flag to the mast in saying they wont arm Ukraine and have stopped other former soviet states from sending German made weapons to support. They have offered a field hospital though!

This might just be what BoJo needs to divert attention from how many candles he had on his cake.

Putin is sabre rattling but your right , he does covet the Ukraine as it acts as another border to Russian via the black sea. Putin has major ,major problems at home with his regime and looks like he is trying to look big to all around when he is weak. He has problems with his own people if reports coming out of Russia true. As others have said he may start a war but he certainly will not finish it.

Can you blame Putin for defending Russian interests when he has warned NATO for years to stop encroaching on his borders? If Canada signed a military pact with Russia and China would folk expect America not to react?

No, I wouldn't say Trump nearly started ww3 with that strike. That was a spat between the yanks and Iran and it went no further. I'm not sure about your second question.

So, it seems the US is ramping up the rhtoric that Russia is 'Days or Weeks' away from Invading Ukraine.

I did watch a very informative video the other day, as to why Russia, and in particularly, Putin, holds Ukraine so close to his heart.

Of course some of this is speculative, but some bits are interesting

I think Putin thought that he would threaten war and then get a promise from NATO to cease any expansion as as a deal if he pulled out.

Or is that what he wants us to think and he has a better secret plan?
