Someone told me that if a group game ends in a draw, there'll be a penalty shout-out to avoid each team finishing with the same goals for, goal difference etc.
TBH...Not sure if that is true.
 
Have to agree I've really enjoyed it so far. The winter schedule means I can sit down and watch more as well as I'm usually quite busy in summer

Great 1960s movie . I remember much discussion of the significance of the sections in black and white. Turned out there wasn’t any, it wasn’t
shot in sequence and they had money problems and ended up having to use black and white film for the last scenes to be shot.<laugh>

Contrary to the story that says some scenes of the film are in black-and-white instead of color because the production company was running short of money and saved money by having some scenes processed in monochrome, according to interviews with Malcolm McDowell, Lindsay Anderson and the cameraman, they first shot the scenes in the school chapel in monochrome because they had to use natural light that came in through the big stained-glass window, requiring high-speed film. The high-speed color stock they tested was very grainy and the constantly-shifting color values due to the angle of the light through the stained glass made it impossible to color-correct, as well. So they decided to shoot those scenes in monochrome, and, when he saw the dailies, Anderson liked the way that it "broke up the surface of the film", and decided to insert other monochrome scenes more or less at random, to help disorient the viewer as the film slipped from realism to fantasy.

Obviously this is just a joke, but I do think the talk of England fans' arrogance around winning the world cup is strange. We're actually very self-deprecating, we talk far more about how **** we are and how we always fail than we do about being good enough to win tournaments. This year in particular, we've had the best record in the groups and everyone around us has struggled at times and got injuries, but I've not seen anyone even suggest we've got a good chance, which is quite strange really.

Whenever Three Lions starts getting played a lot, we start getting accused (or even accuse ourselves?) of arrogance, which again I think is weird. Not really sure what we're supposed to do or say as a nation to not be seen as arrogant.

I actually agree, this "It's coming home" isn't arrogance it's just a lighthearted way of taking the piss out of ourselves. But foreigners don't get our sense of humour so take it literally.

It originally referred to a tournament being held in England for the first time since 1966. It was a tournament who attracted a lot of the wrong types, those who latch onto tournaments and aren’t to be seen the rest of the time, like tennis fans at during Wimbledon fortnight.

Bang on. The media hype it up not the fans as a rule. Do think this is wide open but don’t feel like telling everyone we are going to win it.
