Even (in the unlikely event that we win this or even get to the final), to me this is a devalued world cup and should never have been taking place in Qatar. Would have been more impressed if we had said bollocks and refused to go. But as we all know, money talks in football and morals go to the wall despite the celebrity commentators claiming they will report and not support this corrupt tournament.

Whilst I concur re de valued and so far a low key event I can’t help but think that due to the appalling dictatorship at FIFA the world is been robbed of a once every 4 years World Cup to embrace. I will still watch some matches but if those who choose not to don’t then fair enough.

Not much point in just us saying bollocks as there are plenty willing to step in. Not to mention the possible repercussions from FIFA if we did.

Looking forward to watch Saudis, Iranians and Qataris being told what to do by a woman if any of the women referees are in charge of their games. I wonder if they will only accept what to do if it is confirmed by four men? That is if they can concentrate when confronted by the sight of naked female knees and uncovered hair.

I reckon the whole of the Gulf was built by migrant labour. It was in the early 80's when I was there and I understand it still is now. I don't recall anybody reporting deaths/accidents very much and anyway there's thousands more where they came from. :emoticon-0101-sadsm

It's been held in dodgy countries before, Fascist Italy in 34, Fascist Argentina in 78, South Africa in 2010, Russia in 2018, were they not devalued? If we are in it then we want to win it, we should not be reluctant to support England wherever we play.

As in, a shameful indictment against the country of Qatar; it's rulers, laws and practices; FIFAs appalling corruption and greed; the mealy mouthed appeasement of our own FA and it's officials and the money grabbing hypocrisy of the likes of Beckham, Neville and Lineker.

The only group who deserve to be free from criticism here is the players. None of this is there fault. They are not responsible for where they are told to ply their trade. If they individually refused to play then that could jeopardize their careers and livelihoods.

If they all refused to play en masse however...

That would be some statement.

As has already been said,the players can do very little about this except go and play Football.In an ideal World every nation could've and should've withdrawn and held it somewhere else,they didn't...

Off the field it's a comprehensive **** up and should never have been allowed to happen,trouble is it has!!

That leaves us with a tournament to be played and played is what it will be! Some or other nation is going to win this tournament by winning every game they play.To devalue that would be an insult to every single player who laces up his boots and crosses that white line.

Whoever wins this(who knows,maybe it will be us,I personally doubt it but we have a chance) wins on merit and that's the way it will be and should be.

It was.

Also, until the 20th century when the Gulf states broke away from the Ottoman Empire and struck oil after the First World War, the entire region was an economic and cultural backwater in the Muslim world. The modern sheikhs in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, UAE and the like have ditched the old tribal Bedouin lifestyle in favour of sports cars, expensive watches, private planes and buying European football teams but they still cling to Wahhabism and authoritarian rule.

I get where you're coming from but feel so sorry for the lads involved.I just hope that someone(maybe the Welsh F.A or Team) can help them out here and get them to their destination.

Surely there's some other mode of transport available?
