Remembrance Day is not part of the world. 99.9:% of the world do not commemorate it, just as they don’t commemorate Bastille Day or a host of other events. Maybe you find May 1st problematic as it was brought about by politics which cost tens of millions of lives?
Its nothing to do with how I feel about it, but don’t let that stop you fixating on exactly the same point and missing the wider context.
You are the one completely at odds with any sensible statement here. You don’t really deserve the freedoms you have because of the sacrifices of them people we are commemorating. You are fixated on LGBTQ+ rights and somehow equating a struggle for that with people giving their lives for their country.
I have to say that I have never once thought of politics when making the short Journey into George Square on remembrance Sunday. I bow my head to the fallen, some of whom were family members,(we all have them),who gave up their lives for us to continue living ours.. The fact that FIFA object to the wearing of a poppy but allow the taking of the knee turns me cold and simply reinforces my desire for them to be kicked into touch immediately upon completion of this corrupt World Cup!!!
He's arguing against that , somebody else said keep all politics out of football and he said it isn't possible
yes it is but it means you can't say keep politics out of football when it's something you disagree with innit
What has Remembrance Day, something commemorating the fallen and not a political event, to do with politics? And commemoration is confined to this country and its citizens.
What political event is it? Why should it be deemed political? Should Bastille Day not be commemorated or the 4th July because they are problematic to some numbnuts as they are connected to political events?
Probably best just to agree to disagree on this one and take our thoughts back to the thread title...
I’d go one further and lock this down. There’s group threads to post about the football, this is just going round in circles.
It would be down to the mods to lock it down but I don't see the need? We all switch back to Football, problem over.
Some good news to come out of Qatar. https://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/gary-lineker-last-world-cup-28584380
If you read the article the owner said it was a feud between two people which kicked it off and nothing to do with the football. Still, gives a chance for the anti English to cream themselves.
