Just watching the replays of the Kane penalty claims and I can see why the VAR refs couldn't give it, if it's going to be "clear and obvious," as the whining Phil Nevilles of the world keep saying. In the first instance Kane has his arm over the defender's shoulder and in the second one he's actually holding onto the defender's arm. It's not clear he hasn't tumbled deliberately and pulled the defender down in a 50/50. Doubtful but not clear and obvious.

Academic anyway, because did I mention already that we won?

I would be interested to know at what point a ref must review as it seems entirely inconsistent.

Heard commentators say specifically in about 3 matches now that everything is continuously reviewed by the 4 man var team and on pitch ref informed if they find something. The ref can also ask them to review his decision. Either way with regards to the Kane incidents it seems they didn't judge either clear and obvious ....rightly or wrongly.

And the commentators can see something that tells them when something is under review as I've heard them say it even when the ref is playing on... maybe they have their VT feeds and can see what they are looking at or something ...

why not at least let the public know all this. flash it up on screen. incident under review.
It is the main point really isn't it? Communicating wtf they are actually doing and when...

I can see why may be they don't want it on stadium screens if the match is on going as players may stop or kick it out etc ..

But give it to us armchairs lol

FIFA are investigating the use of VAR based on what happened with Kane last night.... so clearly it was the VAR guys that fecked up rather than the ref ignoring them.

There was mention of a green light by the commentator to indicate a VAR review, is this just for ref/commentary team?

Think so...didn't realise there was a light but I knew the commentators had some way of knowing when a review was happening and when it finished without it coming from the on pitch ref. Maybe the VAR team reviewed and just didn't think there was a case and now their bosses don't agree.... VAR guys get a clarification going forward maybe? Odd as the commentators said the hauling in the box issue was a focus pre tournament
