World cup thread.

Am going to a reunion this w/e on Hadrian's wall so will probably miss the live match, although many of us there will be praying for rain and we can stay in...<laugh>:emoticon-0157-sun:

Must have a word with the organiser as this annual even always clashes with some major sporting event, although personally I don't mind wimbledoom being on :emoticon-0118-yawn:

I am in a little league run by friends and teams/scorers where allocated at random and I got Belgium and Kane and am 1 point of the leader so far, I must try the random approach to our leagues - oh I forgot, I do...<doh>

In the end it's just eleven men running after a ball against eleven other men, and anything can happen. On paper England have the better players, but games are won by teams not players. And Sweden knocked Italy out in the play offs and beat a Swiss team who haven't lost since 2015. They're underdogs because?????
 
Popped into the supermarket to ensure that the wine lake is kept full, and all of the young ladies on the tills were dressed in their France football shirts. Along with the tricolours flying it was very colourful. The TV department had fished out the largest screen in the store and set it up in the concourse, and there was a man offering samples of a decent looking wine. All very good. :emoticon-0100-smile

They said last night qualifying finishes before the game so suspect so.

Not at Wimbledon though but then they probably hate the idea of people watching football rather than the tennis.

Time for Neymar and co to step up and save Brazil - Belgium have been very impressive so far.
 
Well France Belgium should be very interesting. I like how Belgium have been bonded into a team capable of good discipline and able to respond to circumstance. If we meet them in the final or play offs we'll need Gareth to get the strategy right. But mustn't get ahead of my self :emoticon-0103-cool:

Well still 17 hours to go. Some sleeping. Some taking my MIL to have breakfast on the sea front. Then some hours of nervous tension.

Think I'll try and do some work but it might prove difficult.

How is everyone else going to kill the time? (beyond going to Silverstone;)) <cheers>
 
I had to see an emergency dentist last night and am on antibiotics for the next week. I guess the bad side is having to watch England in a world cup without anaesthetic but on the plus side, if the pain subsides, I will remember everything about the Cure Hyde Park gig and my amazing nephew's 18th on Sunday. Damn these positive thoughts - really isn't me!

I'm on an inordinate amount of painkillers, post-op, which I'm trying to decrease slightly day by day, so no alcohol for me neither. Hard work watching all this sober! The Cure are a bit left field by my usual metal tastes, but an excellent band . Enjoy.
