The dreaded is about to take place. I blame Danny Murphy

"We have thoroughly deserved the victory. We have not created a lot of chances, but we have not had to go into fifth or sixth gear." Bit too soon Danny.

I am getting too old for this sort of tension. Better go and check the blood pressure.

    Bring on the Swedes!

Hopefully won't make it as stressful..

Doubt they will be as niggly as Colombia were but again tough to break down.

Not impressed with the Colombians today, they didn't deserve to win. England managed to scrape through.

Next game is on Sat so can watch that without having problems at work. Today just managed it ;)

Dier wasn't great when he came on, he seemed really off the pace of the game. When he stepped up to take the last pen I could hardly watch.

Well they all do unfortunately - Colombia tried to get players sent off all game it seemed until they started playing some football.

It was a bit like the Neymar - Layun incident.

Was over played by the "victim" but should have still been a red card for violent conduct.

Maybe I am wrong, but the American referee seemed a bit out of his depth when surrounded by players for far too long. I wondered how he was appointed.

My wife, daughter and myself have a long term planned music festival booked in Tring on Saturday. The organisers have announced there will be a screen showing the Sweden game in the main food hall section. I feel sorry for the artists booked to be on stage at that time, they might be singing to one man and his dog!!

Well that was a couple of hours I would prefer not to repeat, but hopefully we have laid low a few ghosts of the past. Thought we were solid without being spectacular and full marks for the team for not responding to Columbia's antics, which were awful. Does the WC have the same rule as the EPL where dissent warrants a yellow card? If not why, because if there were, the Columbians would be down to about 6 men, I could not believe how the ref put up with all their nonsense at decisions and set pieces.
I don't know how the ref kept his cool at times but he made his task harder by not waving a few yellows at Columbian's in the early part of the match.
When the Columbians actually stopped the nonsense and played, they looked half decent.
The right team won, if not for football but for attitude.
So far we have exceeded expectations and with luck we may get a semi final spot, so that would be a result.

Well that's just too bad. Your country calls you to arms one more time. And you know you'll answer the call ;).

Be honest we love it really. Bring on those turnips. Pixie for King.

Weekend completely rearranged :). Not sure i like the mind games the Swedes are playing but to me it means they're scared and think they are the underdogs. They won't be easy and obviously i'm not feeling at all confident but having said that, i predict we will win 3-1 ;)

  18. Yeah football can be a right mess for one's social life. Have tickets for the Cure at Hyde Park tomorrow night so now planning to meet in London a few hours earlier than originally envisaged - must remember the sun lotion :)

For me it doesn't much matter who are the underdogs. We have seen quite a few underdogs toppling so called footballing giants in this World Cup. In the end it's just eleven men running after a ball against eleven other men, and anything can happen. On paper England have the better players, but games are won by teams not players. We may be favourites from the 4 teams left on our side of the draw, but it's also good to remember that both Sweden and Croatia have reached the last 4 far more recently than we have.

For the sake of the Swedes I hope your confidense level remains where it is. They don't deserve an 8-0 thrashing ;)

Sadly I can see this being tight for 90 mins. So I'm preparing for the long haul. Don't drink it all before extra time. I mean it's ok when you have a red wine lake like Frenchie ;) My fridge is only so big.

However could this, at long last, be when Sterling's luck changes? Possibly, so like Hornette I'll go against my gut feel and pray for a 2-0 Sterling 12mins, Kane 42 mins. England close it out with the Pixie pulling off some blinders :emoticon-0157-sun:

Sorry but I have no sympathy for those with prior engagements. You showed a total lack of faith so now must suffer. That said I reserved time for Murray in the Wimbledon final :emoticon-0136-giggl

    Enjoy one and all <cheers>
