Clive Tyldesley showed a notable bias towards Holland last night. Is he preparing for the FA Cup third round? Because it's not like any Man Utd matches will be shown on ITV before that.

That's what I thought as well. They outplayed the Netherlands and would have won comfortably except for crap finishing.

I'd always wondered what Maradonna meant when he said the team was "Mascherano and 10 others" four years ago, but it was true last night.

Watching Argentina in this WC, by first thought is to wonder what happened to the creative midfielders they used to produce? With the exception of Di Maria, there's no creative spark in midfield, meaning they're reliant on Orojo and Zabaleta to get things going. Compare this to 2006 where they had Riquelme and Aimar, while in 2002 they had Ortega, Veron and Aimar.

Di Maria deserves nomination for providing the sole moment of quality in that Argentina/Switzerland monstrosity.

So glad that Holland never made the final, when you see yet more Robben acting.

Bloody hell, Germany, they weren't supposed to pass that milestone until Qatar at the earliest!

Brazil and their obnoxious fans having a few more barrels of indignity dumped on their heads from a great height proves there is a purpose to the third place play-off.

    Clogger bonito fails again.

And, it has to be said, even at our most inept last season we didn't concede ten goals in less than a week...

Agreed although it now seems universally agreed by the pundits (although not by last night's ref) that planting your foot on the ground which is then tripped over by an attacker counts as 'contact' which means it's a penalty. I'm referring to the Oscar booking which was correct in my view since although he didn't have much choice but to fall over he didn't need to do it so dramatically nor appeal for the penalty.

Scolari to meet with the CBF today. How many minutes do you think that's going to last?

I hope Germany wins tonight because I'm baffled how Argentina made it to the final.

"I hope Germany wins tonight because I'm baffled how Argentina made it to the final."

Because even playing well below the on paper sum of their parts, they were in the main
still better then their opponents. They should have to do quite a bit more tonight to deal
    with Germany.

The amusing irony would be if they win it with Messi overall playing meh, while the
expectation on Neymar was often crushing.
