Anyone else going to largely not bother with group stages this time? Loads on middle of the night and games like Germany Curacao are completely pointless.

Might stay up for Scotland's first game against Haiti as that's basically their whole tournament.

Maradona was definitely the reason I fell in love with the game back in Mexico 86 at the age of 10
USA 94 was the first World Cup I remember

But France 98 was the first one I really got into and watched

I probably won’t watch any until the knock outs tbh

Unless I’m awake at silly o’clock anyway which is likely now I’m back in London

I'm too old to be regularlg sitting up into the early hours to watch random games that might last 4 hours.

Wouldn't even bother with our group games if they were middle of the night tbh.

Don’t think it’s feasible to do many during the week kicking off from 11. Booked a couple of days off during the second round. Would rather get up for a 4am than stay up for a 2am.

So where are englands group playing from and what times are those kick offs?

I’ll try watch the Dutch and England games and Germany too

Basically if there’s no Liverpool players I ain’t bothered

Think we have two kicking off at 9 and one kicking off at 10.

I plan to enjoy this WC cos my young un is into the game now so he's all excited for it.

Got him an England and Argentina replica top and a wall chart. Will pencil in the juicy group games, whichever ones he fancies watching...get some snacks in n cook samosa n **** and enjoy it to make it a memorable experience for him.

I guess school night late games might be an issue init

94 was one of my favourite tournaments due to the late night kick offs and Italia 90 was magic as was Mexico 86

Qatar probably the best one ever @luvgonzo to confirm

The first one I remember is Argentina 78.

Could 'sing' the theme tune in a second, remember when it came on was a catchy little ditti and they had all this ticker tape blowing down round legends like Mario Kempes.

Spain 82 was superb as well. Another one England ****ed right up, but that Brazilian side with Socrates, Zico and Falcao was absolutely awesome. As was the Italy team that eventually won it.

The first one I actually watched was 1966, and everyone since then has been a disappointment, most disappointing was the so called golden age under Ericson, multiple egos only interested in being the hero rather than a team player, not much has changed since then really, BUT who knows this time around if Tuchel can get the right combination of players all playing for each other

End of term, they do **** all anyway mate, memories of this together are more important, he'll remember it more than coming third in musical chairs. England out in the quarters and a tiny pack of haribo in pass the parcel will be equal amounts of disappointment, especially when teachers pet wins the matchmakers
