Agreed about Pele. Scored about 1,000 goals but 927 of them were against utter dross. He wasn’t even the best Brazil player in his time, nevermind the best ever. Maradona was a much better baller.

Maradona was definitely the reason I fell in love with the game back in Mexico 86 at the age of 10

Ain't being disrespectful to you lads - but how many of you watched the 1970 World Cup? <laugh>

I rate Maradona as the best footballer I've ever seen btw - but the one thing that him, Pele, Messi and Ronaldo (last two in recent times) had, was that they all stepped up in the biggest of games for their countries ...

After the 70 WC every kid in the park and on the playground were either Pele, Rivellino, Tostao or Jairzinho. I was the latter

Like Saf said there were better players at the 70 world cup and you both seem to be agreeing

Was a good actor though tbf

The world had never seen football like it before, everyone watching was mesmerised by it, all 10 outfield players were so comfortable on the ball, Pele was the boss man though. I picked Jairzinho to be as I liked to play wing as a kid.

Pele was counting his goals he scored in training and all sorts of dodgyness

I mean if that's ok then I scored over 4000 goals in my amateur park football career since I'm counting the goals I scored at playtimes at school too init

Did you ever lay a pass off to such perfection in the World Cup Final (vid Gessa has shared) against an excellent Italian side ...having already scored yourself?

... just for completeness <whistle>

... and our 'heroes' have multiple penalties against the likes of San Marino and Narnia in their sumptive grand totals ... <whistle>

Class game this. Set it to the more difficult mode and you try and remember how good players were at previous world cups. Build a team and it simulates results. Hours of fun.

Managed to get a great keeper/midfield/strikers but terrible defence.

Lost to Croatia on pens in last 16.

Anyone else going to largely not bother with group stages this time? Loads on middle of the night and games like Germany Curacao are completely pointless.

Might stay up for Scotland's first game against Haiti as that's basically their whole tournament.
