Just watched the highlights of the USA match. And there's one thing I took from it...... Poch is turning in Russell Crowe.

Just watched the Scotland game… Haiti were robbed eh
Robbed themselves tbh, both teams were nervous in my opinion.
Tried to watch as many games as I can and got to say it’s been underwhelming so far.

Wasn't impressed with Brazil last night, Morocco were good but I think Vini junior papered over the cracks for Brazil. I think overall Morocco edged it and possibly deserved to win, especially if they had a bit more of a cutting edge. Brazil will have to step up a lot in my opinion. Brazil actually reminded me of the 1990 Brazil team, which had the likes of Careca, Muller, Dunga, Branco, Jorginho and Romario in it. A lot of quality in the squad but something "off", if they don't improve I can see them going out earlier than expected. I'd not be surprised to see Morocco top the group after last night.
Switzerland were disappointing, loads of possession and shots but other than a save from Xhaka the Qatari keeper didn't make many top class saves. I don't know whether it was a case of complacency or a lack of a cutting edge, but against a team as weak as Qatar you'd expect more from the Swiss. They're another team that need to step up a lot or won't do much in the tournament. They're lucky it's such a weak group (the group has been nicknamed the group of life) or they could be in real trouble.
I stayed up and watched Scotland and they made hard work of it. They winning goal was probably going to be saved until the Haitian defender trying to block it toe deflected it up and away from the keeper. Other than that and hitting the post in the first half, Scotland never really looked like scoring again. Gannon Doak was good and always looked a threat but they never really tested the Haiti keeper. Both teams only had 2 shots on target but Haiti actually had more shots overall and were definitely pushing more in the later stages. It was a very even game and if Haiti has equalised you'd not complain about it. Haiti weren't great themselves, though. Both Isador and the other forward spent too much time going down easily looking for penalties, which must have been a managerial tactic, as a few others went down easily in attacking positions. Haiti also made some poor choices when attacking out wide, by either running into trouble holding onto the ball too long or poor passes in the final third and had a lot of disappointing set pieces. That said Haiti were closer to scoring in the second half than Scotland. The header late on, Isador was about a yard away from getting on the end of a cross at the back post. Mcginn had a chance he screwed up but otherwise Haiti were the better team second half. Scotland have to be better in their next 2 games but oddly if they can be better they might fancy their chances of getting something from Brazil if they don't improve from their showing last night. Morocco will be tough in the next game, though so they need to be much better. The win probably puts them into the knockout stages unless they loose the next 2 games pretty heavily.
I've not watched Australia - Turkey but I'm not surprised Australia won. Turkey were in a very weak qualifying group that Spain won at a canter and had probably the easiest knockout path. They also seem to be poor travellers and when not on their game are capable of collapsing when up against it. Australia were always going to fight hard and if Turkey weren't on their game Australia are the kind of team that would exploit that. The result probably gives Paraguay some hope of trying to get a 3rd place spot in the next game, both will probably have to go out to win to stand a chance.
