Start Elanga and Wissa for this one. Wolves are awful and could be the game that helps them.

I think we all expect a win. Anything less and the platers, Howe etc want shooting.

Think we’ll lose. Poor squad, fragile players, one dimensional style. Think there’ll be minds on the UCL and a lot of doubt following the city game and the fa cup draw, as well as that niggling doubt around the away form.

I am happy to give Wissa another go. He is still getting back to match fitness but looks generally sharper to me than Woltemade. I wasn't impressed with the latter at all midweek. I know its harder coming on as a sub, but he looked off the pace, his control was poor and he didn't cause the defenders any problems.

Elanga is a different matter. Maybe he is just heavily affected by a lack of confidence but he copuldn't seem to do anything right.
Totally agree. Wissa I think is about match fitness after a long injury lay off. For strikers in particular it's often about confidence from playing and scoring.

Elanga? OK I have no clue. Were we somehow sold the wrong player? Did Forest hoodwink us with his 2nd cousin, twice removed, with the same name?

Wissa is clart

They both are. No amount of time is going to improve them, they don’t appear to have the skills to improve much more than where they are and neither are suited to Newcastle having lots of the ball. When we needed someone like Kudus, Doku, Cherki, Bobb, with a bit of spark “we” went for Elanga, a one dimensional straight line runner. Replacing Isak is obviously a lot harder but the lack of any decent scouting to have to wildly overpay for Wissa was very disappointing.

The Elanga situation I think it's the arrogance of it that I'm struggling with. He's a counter attacking player, but we don't play a way to suit him at any point. Howe must be thinking he's going to coach him into something he's not demonstrated he can be at the expense of 55 million pounds.

Why not identify a player that's actually what you need already for that price?

This is a good argument against the incredibly ponderous nature of newcastles scouting. Elanga would’ve been decent two years ago when Howe first wanted him but so much has changed, except our scouting, so we end up with a player that no longer suits.

Wissa got 19 goals last season and Elanga was brilliant for Forrest tbf. Wissa got a couple of goals immediately, he's just been arse the last few games. I'll still give them time, for Wissa he's still getting back to form, the jury is more out with Elanga.

Simple factor is Cherki, Bobb and Doku were always going to a bigger club than us. Man City haven't been infallible in their signings either tbf, Benjamin Mendy and Kalvin Phillips anyone?

I wouldn't read too much into the 19 goals tbh. Players like Benteke bagged 19 and it fooled some people into thinking he was a top striker..he was young then also Wissa is nearly done and cost a huge amount, so he could be just another dud.

Although perhaps it's actually Howes set up? Neither Woltemade or Wissa gets much service and they're miles away from the play most of the game and are simply asked to keep running around..

The happy clappers told us all season that when Wissas back we'll be transformed and now they've changed that to he isn't match fit....they'll switch to something else in a few weeks I suspect.

I think the Wissa transfer was a panic buy. I also think although Woltemade has shown flashes I’m not certain he will fit into our current style of play.

Elanga clearly is not fit for the type of style of winger we need and we don’t counter.

Poor signings I am afraid.

Wissa and Elanga do look like bad buys at the moment and that's why the happy clappers are getting pissed off.

You might be on the money with style of play.

Considering we'd got outbid/turned down by so many striker over the summer, and Isak had gone on strike, managing to get Woltemade and Wissa was actually very good business. Woltemade fitted straight in and got the goals, Wissa's been unfortunate with the lengthy injury but at least came been and knew how to score. Has been crappy last few games, but is clearly still a bit rusty.

Osula back soon which gives us more options.
