Tbf if it’s 5 weeks from now he’d only be missing 4-5 games this month. The term several was used so could be 3-5 weeks
It’s all about maintaining a good relationship with Liverpool. We won’t be paying a penny for him. We keep on good terms with both Liverpool and the player by playing down whatever issue has been uncovered.Already missed 5 and looks likely to be missing this month at least too. Think we probably should have just cancelled this deal when we found the problem.

I’m sure they did hope it would have less impact - and the primary goal was always to get him playing - but the arrangement doesn’t cost Sunderland anything and maintains/enhances a relationship with a club who will be positioned to help us in future. You're overthinking it, I'd say. The injury has obviously been worse than even we thought and they've probably wanted to push ahead with the deal to satisfy our own fanbase. It's been misjudged though, unfortunately and is a bit of a waste.

Besides, if I’m able to make that calculation I’m absolutely certain that Speakman can.
RLB has said he should be available in the next month. Looks like it might be playoff games for him to be involved sadly but knowing us he will score the goals that sends us upAlready missed 5 and looks likely to be missing this month at least too. Echo reported we wouldn’t pay a penny until he arrives on wearside. Even in the statement it said he would have a start date from when he arrivesAre we sure we're not paying anything for him? Is there an official source for that? As far as I'm aware, if a loan player gets injured, the loaning team usually still have to pay the wages.
If we're not paying anything then I'm not really sure what there is to complain about?
Could be a smart move. Him Le Fee and Ballard as an injection of quality going into the business end.RLB has said he should be available in the next month. Looks like it might be playoff games for him to be involved sadly but knowing us he will score the goals that sends us up
One thing that strikes me as likely is that us keeping the deal on the table now means we will be in pole position for his loan signature next season if Liverpool want him to get more game time. If he does indeed have a limited time on the pitch this season, sending him out next season would seem a strong possibility. You're assuming a "calculation". I don't believe for one second that us spotting the injury and pulling out of the deal would have left a sour taste with Liverpool. Also, Liverpool will always do what's right for them and their players.
Brighton had a bid turned down for watson
aouchiche close to joining pompey on loan
