I'd be having a conversation with Brighton for 12m + a decent sell on mind. I reckon he will end up going to one of the other interested clubs tbh. Probably Palace.

That's a huge statement from us. It also suggests that the rumours about him not being willing to sign a new contract are nonsense.

I'm quite excited by this in a way, it shows how highly we rate him. We just need to get him on the pitch often enough now.

Those rumours that we wasn't going to sign a new contract and wanted away seemed strange to me. He's a local lad FFS. Other than the increase in wages, why wouldn't he want to play his part in getting his local club promoted? Didn't make sense.

We were definitely apart on contract demands

however no idea if that bloke saying he wants to play is true

I wonder if he’s had a change of heart and we’ve came to an agreement, or if it’s a bidding war thing

Being apart on contract demands is fine. That's different to a player not being prepared to sign a new deal though. It's just part of the negotiations.

to be fair I don’t think this changes that. I think that our ownership are showing the resolve to reject offers knowing higher ones will come.

Could also be that the club have had a change of heart and bumped their own contract offer or we just want to get to the summer with him. Hard to say unless my plan to have a drone outside speakman's office works out.

How strange that people were posting on here, a couple of hours ago, that a deal was done at £10m ...

... I think it's time to accept that the club controls exactly what information comes out of the SOL.

I got loads of first hand info before KLD arrived but he's lived his life surrounded by solicitors, accountants and advisors.

I doubt anything that's posted about financial matters these days, in fact I think it's all fabricated.

Sorry but this club isn't a Netflix joke any more, it's a serious organisation that's weeded out those who think they can take the piss.

Why does it seem.like he won't sign a new deal, if they thought he wouldn't sign a new deal they would have sold him. If this offer is true and they have rejected it then surely they must think they get tie him down with a new contract

Or they expect higher bids.

could be either. None of us know. All we know is we’re in good hands that aren’t selling cheap

The ball is clearly in his court. If we are promoted he is far more likely to play here and will get a very good contract or we’ll sell him in summer. He’d be taking a punt to go now imo although having had an unfortunate injury he might, like Stewart, think a big contract now is actually the most sensible thing to do which, in fairness, would be understandable.

So Methven was right then, the piss taking party was over, we just had to wait till he ****ed off for it to kick in!

If I was a betting man I still think Watson will go, for closer to £15m. I ****ing love that we’re not pushovers.

Still think we sold Clarke too cheap though, albeit I understand he wanted the move and had earned it.

Would absolutely love it if Watson stays and signs a new contract.
