Very rare Sunderland make a direct loan to permanent. Last one I remember was probably Elmo a million years ago. Clarke went back to Spurs and we went in with a separate bid. Coates the same at Liverpool. Makes it more sweet it mid season aswell. Gets rid of all the chew in the summer of us wanting him, other clubs bidding, dragging on all summer. Love it.
Dajaku. Although we probably didn't want too

Sunderland AFC is delighted to announce that Wilson Isidor has completed a permanent move to the Stadium of Light.

The Club triggered an option in the striker’s loan agreement on Thursday and subject to international clearance, his transfer from FC Zenit Saint Petersburg has been finalised.

Following an immensely successful opening act on Wearside, Isidor has signed up until the summer of 2028.

The striker has scored nine goals since his arrival in August, including a selection of unforgettable strikes, and match-winners against Hull City, Sheffield United, and Portsmouth.

Isidor said: “I’ve been waiting for this moment since my first steps at the Club, so I’m very happy. Right from the start, many moments made me believe that Sunderland is home for me and my family. On the plane from Zenit, I received so many messages from the fans, and then I saw the stadium and met the people for the first time. At my presentation against Burnley, I knew the fans would always support me and this has been true in my best moments and the toughest. I love playing for Sunderland, and this is just the start.”

Kristjaan Speakman added: “Wilson’s made a really positive start to his time at Sunderland and we are delighted that he will remain with us permanently. Everyone can see that he thoroughly enjoys being part of our Club and he has performed at a very high standard. In finalising this transfer, it’s also pleasing to note how motivated Wilson was to commit his future to Sunderland. This process has no doubt been supported by the warm reception he’s received from our fan base, who I’m sure will be delighted that he is now officially red and white.”

As the 24-year-old’s time in Russia concludes, he reflects on a successful period that saw him score 24 goals and register seven assists in 68 appearances.

Isidor also lifted the Russian Premier League, Russian Cup, and Russian Super Cup during his time with Zenit, which was preceded by spells with Lokomotiv Moscow, AS Monaco, and Stade Rennais.
