This is where it gets difficult IMO. Finding players that are within our budget, able to contribute immediately while representing value for the longer term is really tough to achieve. I know the whole loan to buy on promotion wheeze is popular with fans after ELF, but even that doesn't really match with the brief (as if a club is willing to loan out without guarantee of sale, they're more likely to be out of the first team picture and therefore less ready to contribute for us from day one).

Ultimately, it becomes a balance once again. One or two to help us over the next 20 games, but not too many to destabilise what we've built, whilst being mindful that players to push us through the rest of the season are likely to be either affordable and not suitable for the next level or ready for the PL and out of our price range. Then there's the spectre of a scenario where we miss out and have to pick through the ramifications of what we've done in January in the summer and beyond. It's miles away from being the simple task that many think it to be.
Good thing they get paid good money to achieve these tasks isn't it haha. I'm confident if anybody can it's KS

It’s a really good point this mate. We’re all obviously excited about players like ELF or others who’ve been linked but if we don’t go up we more than likely don’t sign those players PLUS we potentially lose Jobe and others.

But in my opinion that’s a gamble we must take. There’s no easy way of getting promoted with the teams coming down being able to continually sell overinflated assets and reinvest, I think it’s very naive of people to think we can continually churn out £15m+ profits on players and sign improvements for a fraction of the price, thus improving season on season whilst losing our best players.

I think the club have been patient in our approach and we’re now in a position where we can shop in better markets, afford better players and also know we have very valuable assets we can cash in on if need be.

I have a lot of trust in KS and the plan. However, the choice NOT to do something is within that scope too. And the choices the club makes may not be solely about the run-in. We're all getting excited about the Edwards link, but he's played 300 mins of football this season. How long do you reckon it would take for RLB to get him onto the pitch?

Got a feeling any deals will progress very fast as of today, not many more days to go

He is fit now, few training sessions and because of his ability he will be in quite fast

Think Le Fee only had about 300 mins in the league too mind. No idea about other comps like. You’d like to think training with a champions league club he’d be ready to hit the ground running

Just a fun little fact, Marcus Edwards just changed agents last week to the same as Dennis Cirkin and Dan Neil... quite topical with all the discussions recently :emoticon-0100-smile

So what you are saying is Dan Neil's agent has let him know Edwards is signing and that's made him sign his new contract as he is excited by the clubs vision? <laugh>

Fabrizo Romano has history of reporting on Marcus Edwards in the past, nothing on that other French kid that’s linked.

defaintly think we will hear from him if there is anything concrete soon.

If he’s training on his own and not match fit then coming here where he’s just about guaranteed to play every game even just for the next six months would be more beneficial to him than trying to get in at Nottingham Forest who are obviously doing well at the minute but with a heavily bloated squad.

Still think it might be a stretch but the fact we managed to convince Le Fee here shows me that it’s not impossible by any stretch and would immediately be an upgrade on Patrick Roberts.
