Is Archer good enough to play in the Prem?

I know that's not our need now but it would have to be a consideration if the structure of the deal is an obligation on promotion.

In the right side and style i'd say so

I think he has the potential to be a PL player, most importantly he helps us now

I love his movement and he's a good finisher who knows the league

Need to get there before we worry about that, he’s young and been in 2 very poor sides both times he’s been up there so hard to tell

Like archer, would be a hefty fee upon promotion. Can see why we would only be "considering" an offer

6 premier league goals in two of the worst sides ever to grace the premier league

18 championship goals with a minute per goal ratio of 166 minutes with 8 assists aswell so a G/A every 119 minutes at this level

England youth international

Better than cannons record of a goal every 213 minutes at this level and a G/A every 184 minutes when similar ages

I suppose it's still up for debate. He's scored far more regularly in the Champ than the Prem but still time to grow into a top flight striker, he's young enough. What might decide where he goes is which club believes he can step up. Leeds might just want him to fire them to promotion and then look elsewhere.

I disagree there mind mate, if we're structuring deals with an obligation on promotion then we have to be confident they can make the step up. Otherwise you're comitting a proportion of your budget on promotion on players potentially not good enough for the league and you're saddled with restrictive deadwood from the off. We won't be able to afford to be that short termist.

I'm confident the club will know what they're doing in this regard, it was more that I was trying to gauge and weigh up the credibility of the link. If consensus was that he's a top Championship player but not good enough for the PL then I'd probably dismiss the story out of hand.

I reckon it would be similar to what we have been chucking at Semih and Cannon in our loan to buy offers
Be more than cannon, and I'm still very very skeptical there was ever actually a bid for Kilicsoy.

I would imagine Southampton want 20m+

I would agree but with the teams he was linked to, why fake that sunderland of all clubs have put an offer in?
Maybes heard there was interest from the north east and got us mixed up with the mags :emoticon-0102-bigsm, who knows.

Graeme Bailey – Chief Correspondent at TBR Football – has now been told that Leeds are currently holding talks with Southampton over a deal for the man born in Walsall.

Archer – who Southampton signed from Aston Villa in a £15m deal back in August – has only made ten Premier League starts out of a possible 23 this season, scoring twice, and the Saints are ready to let him depart.

We understand Southampton would allow the 23-year-old to leave on loan, but will insist on an obligation for Leeds to buy him permanently if they achieve promotion to the Premier League.

Sources have also told TBR Football that Sunderland are ready to make a bid for Archer as well, although Leeds – who face a fight to keep Pascal Struijk from Tottenham and Wolves – are in pole position.

Multiple reasons

we’re currently in the market for loan to buy especially with young talent

he’s linked to Newcastle. Easy link to make for pressure etc

plus lots of other reasons
