None of him, Rusyn or Connolly were important parts of our squad. An extra forward would be nice, but we are well stocked in every position but full back...

if le fee is going to be used on the left I’d rather we hadn’t bothered and had put the wages into a forward

The one you'd bet on would be Southampton - simply because their season has been so demoralising - but it could well be that Ipswich have hollowed out what made them impactful with the sheer turnover of players this summer. Agree about Philogene, though. If Clarke doesn't work I don't see why they'd expect him to be that much better.

Ipswich had a lot of momentum last season which carried them up, with out really having any rough patches and still have a core of players from league one in their squad. It's possible that they went up a season too early, not giving them a chance to adapt the squad for playing at a higher level and have been caught now. It can also be a test of McKenna on how he deals with adversity and things not going well. At the moment his stock's pretty high, but if it goes poorly in the future he'll be written off pretty quickly.

I agree that Southampton being the most likely to do a Luton. This season will be demoralising, coming on the back of another relegation a couple of seasons beforehand. Add in a bit of managerial turmoil and new owners who don't seem to have a clear vision or direction for the club, they could easily sleepwalk into a disaster.

It'll be interesting to say the least.
