Sunderland want to buy Isidor

Sunderland want to buy French striker Wilson Isidor after his sensational loan spell.

The Black Cats are keen to buy Isidor from Zenit St Petersburg but the asking price may be too high for them.

Several clubs have been alerted to Isisdor's form but Sunderland have him secure for the season and are very keen to agree a fee to keep him longer.

Alan Nixon doesn't even know that we agreed a price when we sign Isidor on loan think it's around £3.3mill

An option to make the transfer permanent following the conclusion of the campaign is included within the terms of the agreement. (SAFC.com)

Perhaps we are trying to make a permanent deal this window and free up loan spots?

Maybe but he’s saying we don’t even have an option, he’s saying we are keen to agree a fee when we already have an option to buy agreed

From 28th Oct 2024

Isidor is on loan until the end of the 2024/25 campaign, but there was some confusion over what happens at the end of the campaign due to contrasting statements from Sunderland and Zenit St Petersburg at the time of his arrival. Sunderland announced that they had an option to make the deal permanent at the end of the season, while Zenit said it was a 'mandatory right to buy'.

The Echo understands that a fee has been agreed by the two clubs, but whether it is automatically triggered depends on the team's performance this season. If Sunderland win promotion to the Premier League, it will automatically trigger the clause. If they are still a Championship club next summer, the deal will not automatically be triggered and at that stage it will be Sunderland’s decision as to whether to push forward with the deal. If Isidor maintains his current form over the course of the rest of this campaign, it's a fairly safe bet to assume Sunderland will look to do exactly that.

Nixon is simply using the fact that Isidor has been in the news this weekend so he's made a story about him to grab a bit of the attention. Don't be surprised to see him link Trafford somewhere later.

Aye,but if you've loaned wilson with a promotion obligation of day 3 or 4 mil. Of that club want to sign him early, you'd rightly tell them where to go. If we don't go up,they'll get more for him so they're drumming the interest now, makes sense

Would be a lot of logic in doing the deal now to free up a loan spot.

Reg mentioned we may need some defensive cover. We now we could do with a winger and striker.

Wilson has done more than enough for us to pay now. **** Friday the lads a diamond and for under £4million we could buy and at least treble that in summer (not that I’d imagine we’d do it to cash in).

He has been a great pick up.
