A diamond midfield is a very very very hard think to pull off

if you’re playing a diamond it’s more likely a 433 using a false 9 which Isidor isn’t

A really keen Chris Rigg and the pace of Mayenda to get at them last 20 mins.

I would go with this, I think…

Neil

Le Fee Jobe
Rigg

Mayenda
Wilson

Let them come onto us, then hit them with speed and frighten the life out of them.

Then Roberts, Auchiche and Rigg waiting in the wings for when they’re exhausted
I know Rigg is good but starting and coming off the bench in the same game, now that takes some doing.

Would certainly be a bold statement starting with only 6 players, no defence are keeper.

The diamond can be lots of things to be fair. Allegri nailed it at Milan in a 442 diamond. He had the joy of Pirlo at the base of course.

Klopp is regarded as a 433 man, but when Firminho was on song it was often a diamond.

The key to it is really your full backs. They need to bring width otherwise you are easy to play against. Cirkin and Hume are naturally providing width for us. As a coach I could see our players smart enough to execute. A 4 man CM would provide possession dominance in many games, and a 2 up top stopa their CBs stepping out.

I would fancy them to pull it off tbh. The coaching aspect is all about being a 3 at the back when a full back goes, and reactions to losing the ball, which need to be ultra quick.

Not sure I would opt for it. But it is doable imo.

I don’t think we should be putting a central midfielder especially one of his quality on the left wing?

can play on the wing if needs be, and personally I would rather we didn’t re shuffle with our shape/players. Could go 433 but don’t like Mayenda on the wing and no viable option as an out and out left winger. Aouchiche and le fee both good options on the left in a 442

Really classy statement from Connolly on the way out.

Really hope he gets his career moving again.

Just read it after seeing your comment. Yeah classy statement from the lad and a few things stood out for me from it. Credit to him for wanting to move on for playing tim, seems like he is in a better place. Also credit to the club for letting him move on so easily to allow him to get more regular minutes! Stuff like this will always look good and help attract players!
