I dont mean to sound like the Grinch. But all this talk of players accepting rotation I do not buy. Players want to play, all the time. Rigg will not be happy if he isnt playing after racking up 50 appearances already. Jobe will not be happy after racking up 100 games, and his love affair with this club may soon whither. Neil, as captain, will not be happy to be rested. Roma arent sanctioning a loan where Le Fee rotates regularly. Squad harmony and togetherness has got us a long way this season.

Is Regis even a coach that will rotate?

No doubt Le Fee looks a good player. Certainl a couple of year ago. I still have major concerns over the downsides for the club, and our reputation in terms of a pathway. Not against Fee, but I smell challenges along the way.

Roma aren't interested in Le Fee coming back, that is why there is an option to buy in every deal being negotiated with him so far

All the other clubs at the top are rotating their best players. I don't see why Jobe and Rigg should expect to demand to start every game as teenagers.

Either way, we're talking about them being on the bench perhaps once every 4 weeks. And that's in a perfect world where everyone stays fit and doesn't get suspended.

Agree with this, if they moan at the first sign of competition ESPECIALLY Rigg in his first senior season then I would be quite disappointed and I think RLB would be too

Grinch

Makes sense, FWIW I probably wouldn't pick Vinicius, great hold up play and a top striker but not sure he would fit into our system, a lot slower than Mayenda, Isidor and probably even Connolly and can't imagine he'd be happy going and pressing teams.

We're probably looking for a bit of a unicorn striker if we want someone more physical who can also run channels and press, someone like Ross Stewart comes to mind, but doubt we'll find another like him
I think we want a striker with that hold up play ability, a different option to what we have. Think that's why his name was mentioned earlier in the thread as he gives us something our other strikers lack - I'm not a huge fan of his but he might be worth the risk

Meslier needs to go back to France and rebuild his career. The video of his mistake versus Hull where all the defenders then just turn and scream at him is painful to watch. Like a Sunday league team with a hungover fat guy in goal.
Leeds fans I work with say they have to sign a GK in January to replace him

I remember being on a scouting course with a really highly rated senior scout and he said Meslier is the best young GK he has ever scouted and was adamant he would be world class 1 day

in regards to Lille being interested, they haven't even moved for him yet we have and it sounds like he has agreed and it's us negotiating now. Le fee turned down Betis for taking too long, if Lille haven't even moved for him I doubt he is going to wait around with an offer to come here and have a big chance of PL football with his best head coach.

(i hope)

I have a feeling that scout will still end up being right, his form stinks this season and the fans have turned though, hard to come back from that. Needs a new club.

I don't understand how it impacts our reputation of being a pathway into senior football

We need a squad, the last few weeks/month have shown we are short in CM, so we need another option in here and getting a real quality one is only a good thing.

The best players will play, if Rigg Jobe and Neil are playing really well they'll start, it's as simple as that. If they are playing poor or need rotated then they'll be swapped out for Samed or Le Fee (if he joins). Of course players won't be happy with rotation but it's up to them to ensure they are the 1sy name on the teamsheet by playing class - if they do that they'll keep their place

Get what your saying Fell, but every signing is a gamble, causing competition for places is usually seen as a good thing, keeping players on their toes, but what I haven't seen from our lads is any of them needing to kept on their toes, I've not seen such togetherness since Reid's days.
Think we would all agree they need a bit of help to get us into the top two and any additions will be a big test for Reggie....I think he's up for it though.

Speaking ahead of the game to the Northern Echo, Le Bris said:

“I worked with Illan from when he was very young, with the reserve team. I had the chance to work with many young players, and it is always great when you see them grow up and do well.

“Illan is a good example of that. I know that he still has good potential to perform at the very highest level.

“Of course, the journey for any young player is difficult. You can have bad moments and better moments, but he is a good guy and a good person. I like the player, but I like the person as well.

“I will be very happy to see him, although I hope he will not do too well on the pitch and that he will have to be looking at his net to take the ball out. That would be nice.”

RLB absolutely must shift his mindset regarding control and order in-game. It wouldn't totally square the circle but more, regular, earlier subs plus more rotation in the starting XI would at least keep players getting minutes. Wins are a powerful anaesthetic, but I share your worry. Our squad is absolutely ****ing massive even as it stands.

As a side note but in the day of 5 subs i dont get how you cant be using them, i thought the data guys would be all over it.

I mean we have players being subbed for 'red zoning', with this being a thing so surely the two concepts go hand in hand? I get there challenges and players need time to get their heart rate up, but maybe the sport scientists have as many negatives as they do positives for substitutions on the data side.

Our captain isnt signing a new contract and a player like lee fee, in his circumstance comes available. Nothing against Dan but its negligent not to improve.

Secondly we typically play 3 CMs, Rigg, Jobe, Neil. Samed is a permanent sick note and Browne could be out for an undetermined amount of time. Aleksic is clearly in his bedding in season so we have 3 players for 3 spots, it's naive to not think we need one more.

if the finances accounted for a net gain in selling patterson and acquiring meslier i think its a good deal, the ceiling on the latter is higher.
