The player was signed for €23m (£19m) just 6 months ago, Roma will want most of that back if any deal involving a transfer is to be struck. I know our guys are very good at getting sensible deals that the club can manage, so I'd assume this could be dragged out a little longer than usual. Happy to be completely wrong though.

I'd agree with you, however he allegedly turned down Betis because they were taking too long to decide / make a decision.

Would suggest he wants to get a move on.

New report says Enzo Le Fee originally said no but changed his mind, this would correlate with everyone saying at the same time it's now very close.

I'd assume he has agreed and now it's up to us to negotiate with Roma fully.

I wonder if he said no and then we told him regis was here and he started begging to join <laugh>

Where has this link with Vinicius come from like? any actual links or just rumours on here?
Also i.e the Vale post, I thought he was a fullback rather than a midfielder/wide player?
Nah, a couple mentioned his name on here so I was just picking a striker out to see folks opinions

He played LB/LWB on loan at Bristol Rovers, so he is versatile. I always thought he was best as an AM, but I can see why my mate thinks RM would be his best position

It's almost a perfect no risk chance for him to get to the PL, makes more sense to try rather than not to. If we go up, the buy option is automatic and he is now a PL player, if we don't he goes back to Roma

There is definitely some risk from the clubs side in being involved in a transfer of this size, but some of that is mitigated by the player knowing Le Bris.

If you assume the player is on £65k a week and was signed for £19m, we can assume we will have to cover at least half the wages now and likely pay the remainder as part of a fee later if we make the transfer permanent, we can assume there to be a hefty 6 month loan fee also, with no option on the player after promotion but an obligation, which is tough to swallow if the player doesn't do well.

Something like this:
£3m for 6 months loan
£750K 6 months wages at £32500 pw
Total upfront for loan £3.75m

After promotion, obligation to buy of £15m plus £750k remainder of wages from last 6 months.
Total: £19.5m

Something like that.

We only have four more mid week games - I believe the worst of the hectic Championship schedule is behind us. Are any of the four I mention going to be satisfied with 20 or 30 minute sub appearances once every week?
But what if one gets injured or 1's form totally drops off - then we are hoping Samed gets up to speed quickly

I just think having 5 quality CM options, with Browne being the 6th when back fit is a great place to be in. It means we can rotate when players need a rest or the game requires a different type of player

Aleksic will likely be used out wide, like on Sunday, if needed - gives him time to settle into life in England without the same pressures on the pitch

I do think Adil might go if we bring in Le Fee tho, I know they don't play the same position but I could see him going still

Btw, not sure if anyone is on twitter, champ fans are losing their heads about this happening, Leeds fans are actively arguing with their own fans who are trying to play the move down <laugh>

this is squad management 101

theres also an element of forward planning and opportunism, striking whilst the irons hot in regards to our league position and targeting le fees in a moment where he needs to play football.

It could go south but its good recruitment philosophy regardless.

Leeds reportedly having a quiet window to their fans dismay.

Here's a random one, if Patto goes this window (unlikely), don't be surprised to see us go in for Ilan Meslier (Leeds) who played under RLB at Lorient, consensus at Leeds is that he is top class but for whatever reason it's not working out for him.

Most people seem to be after an upgrade on Roberts’ output on the right hand side (I’m not sure how feasible that is) and I’m not sure that addresses that so may leave many unsatisfied.

It’s my own issue, not a criticism of the club as I know we need numbers and cover in there, but the potential Le Fee transfer feels quite bitter sweet for me. I don’t see how we get him here without at least an implied assurance of playing time. Bellingham and Rigg have always had offers of playing at a higher level for ‘bigger’ clubs but the promise of minutes is what differentiates us from the alternatives, Neil is our captain (and, ok, happens to be my favourite player) is stalling on a contract and needs convincing his future is here, we then have Samed and Aleksic (whose own development would only benefit from cameos like Sunday) I just don’t know how we square the circle, keep people happy and maintain the squad harmony that has been so fundamental to our success this season.
RLB absolutely must shift his mindset regarding control and order in-game. It wouldn't totally square the circle but more, regular, earlier subs plus more rotation in the starting XI would at least keep players getting minutes. Wins are a powerful anaesthetic, but I share your worry. Our squad is absolutely ****ing massive even as it stands.

Makes sense, FWIW I probably wouldn't pick Vinicius, great hold up play and a top striker but not sure he would fit into our system, a lot slower than Mayenda, Isidor and probably even Connolly and can't imagine he'd be happy going and pressing teams.

We're probably looking for a bit of a unicorn striker if we want someone more physical who can also run channels and press, someone like Ross Stewart comes to mind, but doubt we'll find another like him

Nah no chance, all i see on twitter is how much Leeds fans hate him. He's a bombscare in goal, there's threads from Leeds fans showcasing all his mistakes and how many points he has cost them

Meslier needs to go back to France and rebuild his career. The video of his mistake versus Hull where all the defenders then just turn and scream at him is painful to watch. Like a Sunday league team with a hungover fat guy in goal.

Agree, I WAS wanting a striker who is very good at hold up etc, but i'd take another one who has a bit of experience and can score goals and can do all the running required.

I just want another experienced option who can offer what Isidor does in case he gets injured. Mayenda isn't ready to shoulder a responsibility like leading the line if Isidor gets injured in an auto race for me. His composure in front of goal is not there yet and it could be crucial in this race

It was just a name picked tbh mate, I knew if I only picked Vale and Le Fee, folk would say we need a striker

You just know someone on Twitter today will be posting "Exclusive Transfer News - Carlos Vinicius to Sunderland". :emoticon-0102-bigsm
