Lets play devils advocate for a minute.

Le Fee comes in on loan. He plays the Rigg position a lot and as a result Rigg becomes an impact player. We miss out on promotion, dont sign Le Fee. Either Riggs development has slowed, or his agent gets in his ear about a move elsewhere. We are worse off start of next season?

The problem with loans like this proposed one is they are predicated on a short term gain. In this instance a potentially better chance at promotion. The medium to longer term impacts can be more telling if we dont get promotion.

Loans have to be really carefully used imo. Particularly in Jan.

You could also that if we don’t sign Le Fee we might not go up, and he could be good enough to help us push for promotion. I don’t really know much about him tbh but I always think we should be looking to improve if we can, players development shouldn’t be a priority over promotion. It’s the same as the Clarke thing for me, I’ve seen rumours of him coming on loan and whilst I think they’re nonsense I still read into the reaction online and seeing so many of our fans say they wouldn’t have him back for the rest of the season is just bizarre to me. Our aim is promotion, not finishing 4th but giving young lads game time so their value goes up.. that’s just something we reap from the model we’re employing.

His stats are quite good and the reports we are getting are stating this is someone who RLB wants and knows well and actively wants to bring him here.

You don't go for 20m twice in a row if you're not of some decent quaity imo.
Jack Rodwell? Everton to City 12 million. City to Sunderland 10 million.

22m is a bit different to 40m haha

we are also in the championship
It was also 12 years ago that he signed for us and longer than that when he signed for City. The point being is that ****e players can be sold for big amounts of cash relative to the times they play in.

Considerably higher I’d hope.

His ceiling v Jacky is like a New York skyscraper v a fridge.

This for me. Clarke was leaving having not much room for improvement question was could he do the same thing jn premier league not how much better would he get.

Jobe is the opposite he is going to get better his improvement this season has been unbelievable if he moves to a higher league and has half the improvement he will be some player!

why I cant see us selling Jobe ( or Rigg) for the matter this window,

unless its a big over 35-40M.

which doesnt really happen in this window anymore
Hope you're right....that said we did sell Clarke for a lot less then most of us thought he was worth... But you are right, Jan window is normally not the time for such big transfers

but had a chance to leave in the summer and didnt,

and atm they are first team starters, they will want to have that if they go,. and look at Clarke... hasnt done well in leaving....

in fact, some Ipswich fans now dont rate him

Clarke would still walk into any team in the championship, including ours.. the gap between the 2 leagues is just absurd. Jobe isn’t at a level to play regularly in the PL right now so leaving in January wouldn’t make sense imo unless there’s a plan to loan him back or it was a move to someone like a Dortmund where he feels there’s a plan for him from next season and he’s happy to be a bit part player at first. But even then they’d just agree to sign him in the summer surely

they might not rate him but that’s fans getting above their station

they might stay up but there’s no failure in getting relegated whilst giving it a go considering the gulf beteeen the prem and the championship

look at their recruitment, they’ve acquired championship big hitters Clarke, szmodics, greaves, O’Shea all primed to be a championship super team if they go down

they play szmodizs on the inside left because Davies is big for them but once delap leaves, they’ll have the former championship golden boot winner up top and the best left winger the season before last on the wing.

that’s some forward planning

Jobe and Rigg had opportunities to leave in the summer and didn't, I can't see either wanting to leave now with the position we are in

They'll both be here at the end of the window

I think you're right but there's always a chance that they and the club get an offer they just can't refuse. A Tottenham or Arsenal coming in and bidding more than £40m for either might be enough to turn both their and our heads.

Some people need to remember the difference in power we hold in the 2 situations
Clarke -10 months left on his deal, how much more is he going to improve?
Jobe - 3.5 years left on his deal, no where near his potential (sky is the limit for him imo)

so unlike in the Clarke situation we hold the power we aren’t worried about losing him for less or nothing at all if we don’t agree in this window.

Plus the key word(s) in the jobe update is ‘gentleman’s agreement’ that doesn’t lock you into a fee that you agreed with him in the summer with the new contract that would be a release clause. So what we agreed a fair fee was in August would have surely changed since with his growth in the time since.
