He’s played a level above the championship for years and years. Still just 28. I know his only season in the champ recently wasn’t amazing but surely he’s still a lot better than most options due to the level he keeps playing at?

Probably won’t be us to get him anyway so <laugh>
One of those weird players that looks good but isn’t. Not actually much of a goal scorer despite his apparent ability. He’s in his prime and hasn’t done much last couple of seasons. Best avoided in my view.

I know he's played at a high level for most of his career but his goal record is really poor. Doesn't do anything besides score goals. It's irrelevant anyway because he's on probably more than double the wages we'd be looking at for our star player and even if he was cheap he wouldn't help us much.

I'm the same as you, not convinced he's the answer at all. I think because folk have heard and seen him play, folk will get excited by the signing. Not been impressed with him for the last few seasons

Not against it as under the right manager he would be class at championship level but nit excited by the link
Me neither. He’s totally ineffectual more often than not. Flashes of quality when he’s in the mood.

The issue our strikes have is that we don't put enough crosses in for them.

Interesting point - it’s a bit like the chicken egg situation tho, which one comes first. We didn’t used to play through balls. Then we signed Isidor and started to. If we signed a 6”4 penalty box bully, would we then start crossing it more?

Interesting to see if anyone goes after Victor Gyokeres in this transfer window

He had an unbelievable 2024 and has started this year the same, a 57 minute hat-trick last night for Sporting!
Remember the arguments that Stewart was better :emoticon-0102-bigsm red n white goggles on massively (there’s probably evidence on here of me arguing it too like)

I remember loads saying he wasn't that good. The guy had everything, never seen a striker with his pace and power in the championship for a few long time

Stewart was class but not in the same league as him - stewart was the 2nd or 3rd best striker in the league at that time

I remember him that game early season when we’d just gone up. Single handledly beat us second half. So much power on him.

Best I’ve seen at the sol in a long time could see he’d go on to better things, didn’t think he’d be this good mind

Definitely. I remember when he just burned last Ballard like he didn't exist. Then I knew, he was a special player.

I think I've convinced myself young Barry is heading to us on loan.

Gyokeres the best player seen at the SOL since we’ve been out of the PL by an absolute chasm.

He was less of a goalscorer (system and setup) at the time but every touch, move, every physical he was utterly effortless with.

Absolutely superb footballer. Not striker, footballer. Sweden don’t half knock out some strikers.

People talk about Coventry letting him go but didn’t Swansea **** him off for pennies first?

Aye might actually have been on loan Swansea from Brighton. Deffo right links to both.

Aye Googled was a loan at Swansea, Brighton recalled him mid season to send to Coventry.

Very unlike Brighton you are right. I noted there Coventry have 15% sell on as well so they about to gain a lump.
