Agree about getting used to selling but it has to be the summer for me. Selling in a short window like this one and when player's fees get inflated so people would know we have money and need to replace so they would charge us more isn't the move. Especially when we have a chance as good as this for promotion
Surely selling when fees are inflated is a good thing, no? The market doesn't really fluctuate anyway it's a bit of a myth. Clubs are more reluctant to sell but they still do if they money is right.

Clubs in the summer window would know we had money as well so there's no difference there.

We have a decent shot at promotion but my point was that if the club feels like selling an asset and then reinvesting is the best option to improve then I want them to do what they think increases our chances of long term success, if that means losing Jobe (or anyone else) this window I can accept that.

I think the implication is that someone would be selling his replacement to us at an inflated price also.

I think there's a general consensus that the summer break is much better to embed players into a preseason and be ready and integrated into the team.

100%, Jan is a very short window and not enough time to properly find a replacement for Jobe Bellingham who can hit the ground running imo

Not arguing any of that. Like I have already said, my point is that if the club feels like selling someone now increases our chances of long term success then I am fine with that. I think they deserve some trust.

While I’d generally agree I think we’d have an intolerable amount of fanbase management to do if we sold in January. There’s a healthy proportion of our fans who will kick off if these lads go in the summer, never mind January. In a window where many are bleating about the club needing to ‘show some ambition’ (whatever the **** that means) I suspect selling one of our best in Jan would be more trouble than it’s worth.

I trust the board and have been a keen supporter of Speakman and the recruitment process this whole time, you'll find little if any criticism about Speakman from me on the internet, something you can't say for many on here.

That said, if we have ambitions of top-2 this season, we should be adding to the quality of our starting line up, not depleting it. I'd rather do our selling in the summer after we see where we are.

100%. Selling in January would get shouts of giving up on the season, selling in the summer if we got promoted would be accepting relegation, selling in the summer if we don't go up would be lack of ambition. There's always someone arguing that the timing is bad.

this window is notorious for clubs hiking up the prices, as selling club knows buying club is desperate,

a player that is worth 2-3m will go for 8-10m

honestly dont think we need that many in, just a few more in to help with squad depth

Either way for me I don't think we will unless it's a really good bid. Speakman himself has said he will not sell players he believes is vital for our goals in the season. Hence rejected bids for Clarke last Jan

I don't think Jobe or Rigg would get near Arsenal's or Palace's first team this season. If they did offer big money I'd imagine we'd loan them back until the summer. It would benefit everyone.

if we are in the prem then both will stay, unless the bids are 50m+

if we dont go up, depends on their agents... and they will go for around 30-40 (with add ons included)
