Hard to find players that are natural as a RM and a CF, but you never know we might find one I wouldn't mind something like Carlos Vinicius on a permanent (effectively a free but we pay his wages till end of season) and Sessegnon on loan
I want a direct winger on the right basically a right wing Mundle Roberts game style just isn’t useful most of the time anymore and I hate saying that I’d rather him coming off the bench for us
I have a feeling Roberts is starting to slow down. I agree with @MadMackem77 we could do with a mundle type for the right. Need pace down both sides for transitions
Yep agreed Roberts is a solid championship RM but that's it imo. His decision making and movement is shocking. He has unreal close control and footwork and he definitely works hard for the team but we need more We get zero creativity or threat on the right, and it's been like that for a few months now
Agree. If the whole Akpom thing is true I hope we get it over the line. Would be nice to see us target a winger mind too
Don’t think roberts is as effective against a low block. He’s good at playing in triangles with others but isn’t great at crossing, shooting or through balls. I don’t think he’s going to be great in home matches for the rest of the season. He’ll be more useful away from home. His ability to hold onto the ball to relieve pressure really helps us at times, and he’s really improved how he tracks back over the years. Whether roberts/poveda/rigg/mayenda is enough for RW im not sure.
Might have scored a few of the chances that came into the box. Where nobody attacked it. That said, I’m not saying he really would have. I’m just more concerned if Isidor gets injured we will have to rely on Mayenda and that’s not what we need imo
Has to be another RW ahead of a forward for me unless something dramatically changes with our tactics. It was like watch City go left to right today trying to score a tap in. Wilson keeps making runs that the midfield fail to see. The fullbacks needs to stop attacking like Kyle Walker and get the ball in the box early from time to time. Rant over.
Which ones were they? There weren’t any coming into the box apart from the one neil missed oh also if Isidor gets injured I wouldn’t want to rely on akpom as a 9. but I do get your point and think we need a CF
In fairness to scout the goals and assists back his point and I have posted exactly the same in the past .
Have to agree on Roberts. I've always enjoyed watching him but he isn't doing enough and no longer feels enough of a threat. We definitely need a left back to cover Cirkin though. There is a feeling around the club that he might not be here for much longer. Even if he is, he looks like he is carrying an injury or something
There was one or two crosses into their box in the first half where somebody should have attacked it. Hume put a lovely ball in with his left that wasn’t met. Another time a cross came in and nobody was in the right space to attack it. I remember that as I can remember saying and people around me saying a CF should have been attacking that position. Akpom for all he done well as a 10 has scored goals and played a good bit as a striker throughout his career and at Ajax. I’m sure he would offer us the composure infront of goal that Mayenda does not have
Respect your opinion but I don’t think he’s a good centre forward. I’d rather someone else for CF good points made though
SUNDERLAND star Jobe Bellingham is being chased by two German giants. Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen sent scouts to watch the midfielder, 19, in the Championship promotion-chasers’ win at Derby on Tuesday. Jobe moved to the Stadium of Light in 2023 for £3million and has already been linked with a string of Premier League sides and could move in this month’s window. But the £20m-rated goalscoring midfielder would prefer to see out Sunderland’s bid for promotion to the top flight and then move in the summer The new England boss Thomas Tuchel is prepared to look outside the Prem for new talent. The former Chelsea and Bayern Munich chief has already sent trusted No 2 Anthony Barry to see Jobe and his fellow Championship star James Trafford ahead of possible selection. Barry went to watch Burnley keeper Trafford, 22, when he saved two late penalties against Sunderland last week. And he is in contention for a senior Three Lions call-up — despite being relegated from the Prem with Clarets last year. England Under-21 ace Jobe is also on the radar for the senior side despite having not played in the top flight. Link
