I’m really struggling to get my son excited about the Le Fee move. I think that’s possibly because I’m always overly optimistic about our signings so he thinks he’s heard it all before. For ****’s sake I was even enthusiastic about Josh Scowen! I think the last one I wasn’t was the re-signing of Danny Graham.
Josh Scowen. There are so many players I’ve (thankfully) forgotten.
It’s not long ago really when we were signing league one workhorses.
And now. Somebody pinch me. I must be dreaming. :1980_boogie_down:

still think that there will be a double announcement over this weekend.. or at least something more in the way of a name coming in

and possibly on one/two leaving

In fairness to them all but Samed we have on loan currently would likely stay if we were to be promoted, WIlson would be bought you'd assume, Le Fee has thepromotion cluase and you'd think Mepham would choose to stay after his contract runs out at Bournemouth so we wouldn't need replacing too much. Also think it was more detriment to Hull that they lost Greaves and Philogene, two top quality players at this level

If Samed lives up to his reputation he'd likely stay on if we get promoted also, I'd imagine

There’s also nothing to stop, I guess, if we don’t get promoted, of repeating the exact same loan for ALL of next season.
I genuinely think if we don’t go up, players will be very keen to come here, they know they’ll get minutes the coaching is clearly of a very high level so they will improve, we’re the perfect place for young lads to start out and for those who have lost their way, whatever happens we are in a very good place, in my possibly very deluded opinion of course

Hopefully they don’t keep us waiting for the Le Fee announcement too long! Then attention can turn to this rumour of a second signing that was rumoured to be at the AOL yesterday. I’m going for an 11.00 announcement. Place your bets gentlemen!!

I am going for 10:00, someone I know is getting buried today at 10:00, so thats my non logical thought process

Still can’t shake this sense of disappointment it’s JUST a loan and not even a full season one.

Boy do I hope we’re promoted

not saying we should have signed him permanently as that’s impossible.

I just feel like I’ve had a taste now of what could be if we get promoted
For the last couple of years looking at the signings we’ve made and the ones that teams in the prem with a similar model to ours make I have been dreaming of what Speakman could do with the pull of the premier league and that type of budget at his disposal.
I feel like this is the biggest sign of what we’d be able to do in the premier league

It's why we need to stick to the plan. The plan is what puts us in a good position. Spending sensibly, committing to young players, never switching into 'now or never' mode. If we just stack our squad with senior pros in order to take a swing at going up, we're just AN Other football club. The way that KLD and Speakman have built things, we are a club that players want to join - and academy players want to stay at. We must preserve that regardless of the level we get to.

I agree with the sentiment of this, and you'd hope we could find another few of similar potential if we didn't go up this year. However, we have been a little lucky with Jobe and Le Fee both having close ties with people within the club. I'm not sure either would be here without Dodds/Speakman and Le Bris. I guess the hope is that now we've shown ourselves to be a good home for players of that ilk then more will come without needing the close ties to some of the staff etc.

I’m sure I read somewhere that we have an OPTION to buy at the end of the season which becomes an OBLIGATION to buy if we get promoted.
So in theory if we want to keep him we can - assuming he wants to stay. And if we do sell Jobe or Rigg in the summer, then we’d have the finances to do it. That’s how I’m looking at it

Yes absolutely that seems possible. I think the thing that would prevent that, even if we do sell Jobe or Rigg (or both), is his wages. I doubt we'd be willing to pay him premier league level wages in the championship, for the reasons @FellTop said yesterday. So I think the only way to keep him would be a loan in the championship and a permanent in the Premier

That’s correct

I can’t find the article but if we go up it’s £16 million plus performance related bonuses

if we don’t it was £19.1 million straight up

it’s bugging me I can’t find it anymore
