'I love Sunderland' - Eliezer Mayenda aiming to make the most of Hibernian loan opportunity
Sunderland youngster keen to make big impression after surprise loan exit to Hibernian….
“I’m happy to be here,” Mayenda told the official Hibernian website. “Hibernian is a good team and I’m very happy.
“I had different options, but this team was the best option for me because we have a good team, I’m very young, and here I can progress.
“I just want to play games. I like football and the most important thing is to help the team. I need to play and it’s a good opportunity for me to play for this amazing team.
“This morning was good. We have a good team, good players here, and the guys are amazing. Training was good and I’m excited for the rest of the season.”
“At Sunderland I felt good; it’s a good, big team. I have a lot of friends there and the guys were amazing.
“The Championship was different, and it was a tough league. I was happy there, but I am young, so I need to and want to play. I love Sunderland, it’s a good team, good city and I felt good.”
“I think my natural position is as a striker. I feel really, really good when I play as a number 9, but I can also play as a left or right winger. The gaffer will decide, but the most important thing is to help the team.
“I’m a good player. I’m fast, I like dribbling, I like to score goals and I’m strong and intelligent.”
Mayenda will at least know someone at Hibernian straight away, with Sunderland teammate Nectarios Triantis also making the loan switch to Easter Road.
“Nectar is my friend,” Mayenda said. “We have a good relationship and I’m very happy for him because this is a good opportunity for him to play here too. He’s a very good defender so I’m happy for him.
