Chelsea rumoured to want £50m for Broja, starting to think it’s impossible to get a good striker without having your eyes ripped out

Would people be happy if we signed Burstow permanently? There is a rough diamond in there I think. Needs to work on a lot of stuff mind. Might be overly positive but I think I would be happy.
I’m also not that arsed about going up and happy to see us build and improve each window.

If I remember rightly he came in after the Southampton game and we were flying. Sure we won 5 out of 6 at that time or something and the football was largely good. I remember in particular watching one game and thinking he looked like a lad someway from 1st team ready. It was a painful watch and I think he was off after 60 mins or so. The game seemed to pass him by and he had no idea how to involve himself. Other games he was better, but my point is I dont really give much credence to Burstow being major a contributory factor to those stats personally. You must log in or register to see media
We are statistically a better team with him in it. I like him. He has shown flashes of real quality, Sheff Wed when he played a lovely ball out to Clarke for his goal and his turn for the penalty was superb. Like the rest of our strikers though he has been hung out to dry by the coaches not setting up the team to create chances for the striker, Beale seems to be changing that though.
Yeah I don't think I would make it permanent I just struggle to judge any of these forwards playing in the system we've been playing this season. I'm not sure someone like Moore would fair any better either. If I remember rightly he came in after the Southampton game and we were flying. That being said I like him, was pleased to see him get his goal and I hope he goes and gets another 10 second half of the season. As it stands now I wouldnt turn the loan into a perm, personally.
There is a change under Beale. More numbers in the box late. Burstow made some good near post runs at the weekend and the likes of Ekwah would arrive from deep and Ba from wide. From what looked like we were undermanned we suddenly had options in space in the box. It is why O was pleased he got his goal, because his unselfish centre forward play created space for others. Helps when Clarke looks up as well of course, his pass for Ba was inch and weight perfect. Really enjoyed that goal from a footballing perspective personally.Yeah I don't think I would make it permanent I just struggle to judge any of these forwards playing in the system we've been playing this season. Re not going up; speak for yourself mate. I’m hoping I live to see safc established in the premiership, when I think we’ll start to see the owners bringing in some top players. We don’t all have yonk years to look forward to.Would people be happy if we signed Burstow permanently? If we simply buy our way up, and pay to stay there, we'll be signing the same players everyone else is in the market for. We'll therefore become just like them while forever being unable to compete in the top six.
So we'd sacrifice what we have to become another Sheff Utd imo.
To me this is different to what we've done before, and more interesting. We've seen some great football and the 'on the job' development of some wonderful young players. Along with the likes of Rigg, Neil and Patterson we're seeing the youngest team regularly competing with, and beating, clubs who've gone down the usual route of signing 'established Championship players'.
I find our way more interesting, often more exciting, and a change from the same old stuff as before.
Take your pick is dead right mate, we're all different.
Mate how the game has changed is barmy. I started at Roker when we cheered tackles as loudly as goals. Now I love a move like that more than anything. I had to do my coaching badges, and I grumbled through them all (not once did we talk about coaching tackling and heading, well heading once but that is a long story). Now I try to just love the game for its beauty. Brazil 82 is my most favourite side, and football in this country is near to that now, and I am pleased.I shouted at the bloke next to me, 'That's football'.
He was going nuts, at the time, but gave me a big thumbs up ...
... I've watched the full 90 minutes twice, it was all impressive, apart from the weak tackles on the edge of our box.
I loved the attritional 'backs to the wall' stuff with Ball, Elliot, Chisholm, etc but this is like watching a different game.
It took some getting used to but I'm getting there.
The old 'blood and guts' days made the crowd noisier, and more obviously passionate, but this is great when it works.
