It is a tough one, but a good problem to have. Personally Id like to see ekwah and neil running off a cdm. Rotation of Ekwah/Neil with Jobe. Against teams we're struggling to breakdown Id sacrifice probably ekwah and have ba/roberts/clarke behind a striker with Neil and a CDM behind. Even go two up front if desperate.

just can’t see us dropping Jobe unfortunately so it leaves only Ekwah to miss out really. As Neil is first name on the team sheet for me.

I really liked the midfield 3 of the weekend with Neil at the base and Ekwah and Jobe in front. Still would like a CDM if anything as a sub option to bring on to steady the ship. But I wouldn't be in a rush to take Neil out of there. Its imperative anybody who does go in there is better than Neil is at recycling possession. Which I think will be hard to find. The likes of Mvila would be better defensively but likely slow us down quite a bit

Yeah Neil playing deeper with those two ahead works for me, I don't think it needs changing now we've hit upon (what always seemed obvious to me) the right formula.

Agreed that a new CM wouldn't necessarily be a starter but would be an option for games where we're getting overrun in midfield. Someone to help and instruct the younger lads on and off the pitch.

it will happen still ahaha

We beat a Stoke side who've just drawn with Ipswich, score three goals including a striker and stop Stoke scoring ...

... so the first thing some people say is that Stoke are the worst side we've played this season <laugh>

It's like they actually hate us winning because it takes more effort to find something to moan about.

They were ****e like. Not that it detracts from our performance

It has on Facebook someone pointed out a leeds fan said he’s very tall and slow.

i prefer my views from @Scout73 to be honest
He def isnt rapid but has enough pace. Reads the game well, is aggressive and is a strong lad. Hes not likely to go on lung bursting runs with the ball that huggins or cirkin can do but hes similar to hume. He keeps the ball moving quickly and can pass through the lines

Hume is a good comparison, isnt quick but has enough pace but Hjelde is built like a CB

Be good to be able to give Neil a rest. 30 starts this season and rarely gets subbed off. Played every league game (apart from Stoke when he was suspended)

so has Clarke tho and they’d be hell on if he had a rest. Just doesn’t seem like a thing we like to do resting players and giving others a chance.

I definitely agree tho but atm we are only playing one game a week and all the young lads should be able to handle that schedule.

I like Neil further forward. But I also like him deeper like he was against Stoke. Just shows what a good player he is, I suppose. Either way, I'm now thinking I don't really want us to sign another holding player. Someone like Styles, who can play throughout midfield, to give us extra options there, I'd probably be happy with.

We'll see how we get on against Middlesbrough. A couple of games with the new approach and an improved performance and we might be able to say there's finally some signs of change.

This happened with Mowbray, remember - we'd think we were back at it only for the next game to be as poor as usual.

How does that work when we were two games from the PL?
