@Smug in Boots you're using Rigg as some sort of comparison but the fact is Rigg hasn't got a world famous brother playing for RM.
It's my belief and my opinion that the hierarchy are hoping to cash in on his name.
The more starts the higher his value.
Like I said I like him alot.
There's definitely an element of stage managing going on. Giving him an iconic number, letting him change the name on his shirt. Playing him as a 10 when he's anything but. Plays every game.....

I think the kid has potential but he needs a rest. Flogging him to death is helping no-one

Wouldn't rule it out. Everyone can see he needs a rest. They even play him up front ahead of our strikers.

Ah right, so it's just a possibility, not what you actually believe.

I get it now.

As I said on the other thread if he’s down to start Saturday there could be hell on before a ball is kicked

Probably the weirdest protest in the history of football.

"Why are those Sunderland supporters on the pitch?"

"They've discovered one of their players had played half a season."

"Wow, can't blame them, that's outrageous."

So we have a club thread for those who hate the club, a Beale thread for those who hate Beale, do we need a Jobe thread for those who hate jobe or a general hate thread for those who hate everything about the club and want to rant on, a bit like hell. That might help us keep this thread to winter transfers.
Nah, it's all part of the charm isn't it? Folk will always have differing views. Thankfully on here (for the most part) people can have opposing views without resorting to insults and/or threats of violence

Aye but it’s pretty annoying when this thread is constantly knocked off track by some people who just use it as a hate campaign opportunity days after day on different threads or the one that’s getting them most attention instead of the right one

Manager we didn't give a chance. Now a signing we won't give a chance. ****ing great.
It's because KLD only owns the club to impress his mother/rake in the cash/is a stooge for a middle eastern sportswasher/is hell bent on upsetting people who have lived their entire lives exclusively in an SR postcode
(you can pick your own reason, but those are the current choices)

You could argue that the current state of the club has a direct effect on who we bring in.

I don't mind it when a thread goes off at a tangent for a bit. In fact, I quite like it and think it's boring when people complain about it. The constant negativity about every little thing that happens is more than tedious though.

Some people keep saying that, with just a little more spending, the club can make the play-offs, promotion and the massive income that brings.

So, if as you say KLD is really in it for money why do you think he's not doing that?

He clearly has the money and, if as you claim he has no real interest in the club, could waltz away with a massive return on his outlay. The longer he stays, in this league, the more difficult it may become ... so why not get the job done, pocket the loot and wave goodbye suckers.

I'm really interested, it's a serious question.

It seems some want to see the owner as unwilling to spend and profit orientated simultaneously ...

... imo it can't be both.
Personally I think a CDM would help but I also think the club have lost there way a little bit DN was developing very well as a defensive midfielder who covered the ground well, sure he was a bit raw but nonetheless he was developing. We then shifted tactic under Mowbray and we were using Hume to cover that as it released DN forward but this negated our attacking width and we have never really recovered and regained our shape, composure or speed of play (there are a number of other things but this seemed to be the catalyst for a more defensive set up). I for 1 do not think we need to spend big and in fact think we are carrying quite a large squad (injuries aside) I am extremely happy with what KLD has achieved in a relatively short space of time I just think tactically on the pitch we have gone down a rabbit hole and instead of the team last season who played as if they had nothing to lose and just kind of went for it we are now a team who look like they are scared to lose and keep playing slow safe football which is hampering our progression and unfortunately that belief and confidence can only come from the coaching team the head coach and the fans. Give us something to support and we will support it put it on the line and go for it with determination and effort, play with no fear and the fan base will follow. Last year we did that and TBH the fans appreciated the effort expended and the attitude of the players.
Spending large amounts on players with inflated salaries will probably not fix the problems we have but looking at the coaching and set up tactically may well reap some rewards. I would rather see us having a go and losing the odd game than watch this defensive slow paced football we are watching at the minute and still losing games.
Hope I am not the only one who is thinking like this
Early rant of the day OWA <laugh>

I think a lot of the nay-sayers are either ignoring or don't fully understand the financial impact our 4 years in league one had - not to mention the state Madrox left the club in. We were effectively starting again from zero in terms of the Academy, the off field stuff and the playing squad. I understand why KLD isn't willing to fund huge losses at this stage, particularly as they are building towards 2025/26 but patience isn't a typical virtue of a Sunderland fan

I think a massive amount of trust was lost over the BCB fiasco, now people are looking a lot more closely at how the club goes about its business and finding holes pretty much everywhere.

I've seen these arguments before and I can't begin to understand them.

You're saying KLD is only doing all this to suck up to his mother.

Also that, despite being brought up in football, and having his own advisers, accountants and solicitors not to mention a very intelligent fellow shareholder, he's being brainwashed by a bloke from Birmingham.

But what puzzles me most is when people say we can't get players to come here despite Hume, Huggins, Cirkin, Ekwah, Ballard, Clarke, Roberts, etc, many of whom came from PL clubs and worth more than we paid.

We haven't tread water since he arrived. He did what Donald and Methven had failed to do and taken us to the top half of the Championship.

We're a far better club now than we were when those clowns were here using the supporters money.

Have a round of applause for another great post using commonsense and not knee jerk inflammatory nonsense

Alex Neil, who walked out on the supporters and failed miserably at Stoke, is now being hailed as a hero who called out Speakman.

Mowbray knew the set up precisely, accepted the terms and took the money all the same ...

... another hero in the eyes of some people who, if they're being honest, just want endless money pumped in.
