If we pocket anywhere near 20m after sell on clause I'd be ok with selling JC now. We aren't going up this season and he'll be away in the summer anyway.

Look at what Brentford did when they sold Watkins and then Benrahma. They invested in the squad to eventually get them up into the Prem.

With Moore looking a no go, there’s a lad at Aberdeen banging them in at the minute Miovski, I know a few here live in Scotland/watch Scottish football anyone seen much of him? Looks a big lad but no idea on his style etc would imagine he wouldn’t cost the world
He's a great striker, plays up front with a lad called Dux. They both would do jobs here imo

Thing is, it shouldn't. If the players we need don't exist or aren't available, what's he supposed to do? Magic them out of his arse?
I wonder whether there comes a point Speakman demands more of KLD. I still hark back to our wage bill being at the lower end. I dont demand we mortgage the club, but I cant reconcile where we seem to be in season 2 up here. Maybe this is the week we see an uplift. U20s from France can be got for low end wages. A 26 year old from England costs a bit more, understandably so. It is the latter we need though, whoever the bloody coach is.

I’ve seen duk a few times proper live wire, not seen the other was just bored looking at strikers from the spl and he stood out
He's got a decent record, nothing earth shattering but I've seen him a few times and he looked a handful

But we haven't reinvested the money from Lihadji and Stewart into new signings so I'm not that confident we would do so with the money from JC. It's more in hope.

If the right players are available I'm sure we'd try to sign them, not that they'd choose to come of course.

I keep seeing people say that stepping outside of the model and bringing in a few more players for 'minimal extra investment' is all it would take to get us up. As the benefit to the club would be absolutely enormous you'd have to ask, if it's that simple, why don't they just get on with it ...

... which leads people to ask another question, do the club really want to avoid promotion for some bizarre reason.

Perhaps so they can just bring players in then try to flog them off while pretending to supporters that they're actually ambitious.

That seems like an awful lot of effort for what's a small and unpredictable profit imo.

I agree with this. Doesn't mean in any way shape or form I want the club to spend fortunes, but the players we need are realistically going to come at a premium. Its naive to think we can continue to find bargain players, there had to be a slight adjustment

It is though. People didn't want him and have made their mind up. If he'd been a popular appointment and made this start people would be fairly chilled. Hes the fall guy for wider problems at club.

I agree.

If we paid a fee to get Will Still in and he had the exact same results as Michael Beale from his first few games in charge, I strongly believe that the reaction would have been nowhere near as bad as it currently is and almost certainly, there wouldn't have been the hostility we are seeing towards MB being aimed at Will Still.

Some of the stuff I am seeing on various media outlets is quite frankly disgusting.

I'm sensing recently mate that you are seemingly a bit more despondent than you usually are with all things SAFC
Can't quite put my finger on it just a hunch.

Nobody is doing much business yet. The lad next to me at the match reckons there's only been 2 permanent signings by Premiership clubs. We all know the market doesn't really start until they all start making moves.

I'm happier when we're winning than when we're losing, strange isn't it.

I'm never despondent which is a lack of hope or courage, never suffered from either.

Everton, Forest, Man City, Chelsea, Wigan, Reading, Derby, Birmingham, Sheff Utd, Charlton, etc etc etc, all either being investigated for financial irregularities or struggling in one way or another. That's why things are slow, imo, football is in dire straits and everyone is just pretending it's business as usual.

But some just see our owner as tightfisted ... fair enough.

There was no guarantee Will Still would have been a success, and I was all for him.

His team just got knocked out of the French cup by Sochaux (Mayanda's old club?) Who are 5th in the French 2nd division.

The bastard, although some things are achievable

It's the same thing.

He aimed to win the league until it was mathematically impossible, then aimed for European and so on.

IF we didn't aim for automatic promotion people would have twisted like they did when Moyes said we were in a relegation battle. Damned if you do and damned if you don't.

It will be interesting to see if KLD does let him spend a bit more.
The point I was really driving at though was that people seem to be saying Speakman's **** for not signing this player and Beale's **** for not picking that player, without really considering the factors that they are working with.
In terms of bringing players in, your's is the only plausible theory regarding what's limiting that.

<laugh> Don’t be so ridiculous. It’s nothing at all to do with his name. He hasn’t been anywhere near good enough.
I dare say both the club and some supporters had their mind set on an overseas coaches when pondering firing Mowbray. The dalliances with coaches from France and Sweden seems to support that. In my opinion, Beale was such an underwhelming pick folk started from a position of not wanting him. Many seemed to want Still, for reasons beyond me, but I do think it is human nature to back the guy you wanted. If it were Still, he could have got less points than Beale has but folk would be saying it is on Mowbray and will take time. I might be being unfair on folk. Lets say we sack Beale tomorrow and appoint Nathan Jones, I have a feeling some will be throwing their hands in the air. Sadly Beale will never be loved here, even if he does a good job. LJ was the same, fans suffered him in silence when he was turning us round, but couldnt wait for him to be gone. Beale is that times 5 it seems.

Non-league manager I know. Been at Club X for a couple of seasons. Built a good side. They're flying in the league. Club Y are struggling in the league but he has a personal connection to them. They sack their manager and give him the job, along with his staff. But Club Y are still struggling in the league. Is he suddenly a bad manager? Of course not.

Will Still would be doing similarly to Michael Beale if he'd come here.
