Just a thought on Jobe and these rumours of having to play clauses.

Doesn't that set an incredibly dangerous precedent if we have agreed to it? What's to stop Rigg asking for the same?

Surely we wouldn't agree to it? Playing full time no matter what form your in can't be good for any players development

There are only two reasons I think something is in place:

1) a Birmingham fan told me the reason he wanted to leave was his dad was asking for assurances of first team football when he signed his pro deal there, and was then pissed off with them for not playing Jobe enough so said he’d take him somewhere that will play him. Birmingham agreed because they didn’t want to be dictated to for similar reasons I guess to what you say:

I dismissed that at the time but then…

2) we literally playing him every game. It’s hard to argue with the above theory if the practice is playing out.

Im never normally one for conspiracies but im adamant we’ve agreed to it. Very much doubt it’s in writing, more a gentlemen’s agreement. But I’m convinced it’s true

Playing time clauses in contracts are a lot more common than people realise. We more than likely have other players with them not just Jobe.

Not clauses to play pretty much every minute of every game though. At worst he is subbed around 85 to 90 minutes

I can understand the second point but I'm not sure on the first, I have heard it mentioned before, but Jobe was at the play off final with sunderland staff, it was expected that he could sign that summer, however him and the family apparently wanted to do the right thing by Birmingham so he signed the pro contract so they would get a fee, I could see his dad been pissed off though that he did the right thing by them and stayed for another year, only for him not to get much game time.
No matter how much KS rates him I dont think the legal team KLD has would allow something like that in a contract.
However from the outside at the minute you can understand so many people thinking that way

Yeah I agree. either pembele on the right with Pritchard drifting in, or Seelt on the right with Ba providing width. Seelt and Pritchard on the right was never likely to work.

my concern is that he didn’t feel he could start Ba at home because of the boos, despite his good game against Ipswich. I’m also concerned he didn’t feel he could drop Pritchard (fans) or Bellingham (KS) so shoehorned them both into the side.

Home fans not helping things as it stands. At Ipswich, there was not even a striker warming up for the past 10 mins, yet 1 minute after we started signing “we want a striker”, rusyn came on without warming up.

Would have been a brave move to take off Pritchard against hull and replace him with Ba. Possible whole stadium booing. Despite Pritchard not having a good game, and we were crying out for some width.

Mowbray called Pritchard is a “spiky” character. Always has an opinion and not afraid to voice it. Pritchard has fallen out with people throughout his career. I would guess he’s not a good calming figure behind the scenes. Not the kind of character we’re looking for in an experienced pro in the dressing room. Think it would really rock the boat to let him leave right now tho.
Good comments about Mogga views on Pritchard and maybe one of the reasons we only offered him a contract for this season.

If there is truth to such a clause, you’d hope that Jobe or his dad would realise he is fatigued and talk to the club about having a game or two out. It might seem to make short term sense for him to get all of this experience but it’s actually not if he is playing at 80% compared to early in the season.

Saying something about Prichard.

Easy link to make. They don't want to increase or match his terms. Therefore, he will probably be away.

His actions at the final whistle and towards Beale looks like he knows he will be away.

Would 100% keep him me.
Wasn't just his actions at full time though. I lost count of the number of times he gestured towards the bench in the first half as if asking "what am I/we doing" when we allowed them to continually play the same simple balls out from goalkicks. He kept coming inside to try and support Rusyn but the rest of the team were too deep. He then did the same gesture when we made the subs as if to say "where do you want me to go". To say he looked frustrated at the least.

Just give him the new deal he wants and deserves. Play him in the right position.

Not difficult.
At least he is playing now, under TM he didn't get many starts. Plus he's not really playing on the right, he was drifting all over pitch against hull

I might get pelters for this because I genuinely believe we’ve agreed to start Jobe most games. And I think they think he will be an 8 but isn’t good enough yet so they’re playing him as a 10 as it’s a position he can’t cause damage in. The problem is it completely hampers us.

It’s actually not fair on the lad. He may very well end up becoming a scapegoat and drawing ire from supporters, even more than he is now.

He’s going to be a great player. But he’s only going to be a great player if he gets experience playing in the right position in a team playing well. Playing him out of position, in a team playing poorly, will likely see him still playing championship football in 5 years

proof will be in pudding next season to see how much game time Rigg gets (assuming Rigg chooses to stay, he doesn’t have to). We are getting told patience is necessary for Riggs development (I agree). But no such patience is being shown Jobe. Which is one of several reasons I’m convinced he’s being pushed to start by his Dad.

Its an awful thing to say but im hoping Jobe picks up a slight injury so he can get a rest. Maybe 2-4 weeks out of the team.

I think a 433 suits us more as we only really have pritchard that knows how to play that no10 position in a 4231. I like bird as well, not been as impressed with him this season than previous seasons when I've watched him but he fits the type of young experienced player we should be goong for
Hasnt been great this season.

I can’t understand any reason to move on Prichard
First we have no one near good enough in our squad to replace him
And that been proven
Maybe in the future we have to move on from Prichard but we need some one to replace him
Untill then we must keep our best player and bring in better quality then we can start and think of moving Prichard on
Most certainly not at the moment
