I know, I know, square pegs in round holes but Seelt in CDM might be decent. He’s very good on the ball, quicker than Hume and O’Nien to cover more space and get back to snuff out danger. Probably too big an ask for a 20 year old in his first season now I come to think about it!
Don't think it's a bad shout at all tbh. Good on the ball, natural defensive tendancies. He practically covered that role when we had possession against Leeds and played very well. The lad needs more chances anyway imo.

Bit of a blunt instrument in that role though wasn't he? I don't think he gets in our side much further forward.

I agree, but maybe with players like Alese , Ballard and Seelt behind him and our wider players alongside in a 3/5/2 formation , it would take some of the pressure off , as in the Leeds game, it would also save having to add more players to our squad, until Evans is sorted out, and give room for our developing players to move up the ladder
Not always perfect I agree, but for me O/9 is a key member of the squad atm.

I think we need to be more flexible with formations. We are probably to predictable atm. I also hope we go back to playing at a higher tempo and press teams more.
Without doubt. We changed it up against Leeds and it worked - we won the game whilst keeping a clean sheet. It’s been back to the same old ever since that game.

He's a useful squad member, undoubtedly.
I don't see him playing an attacking midfield role like he did at Wycombe, like Exile was referring too, for us.

Might have missed this, but apparently Liverpool want to sign Patterson to replace their reserve keeper! The HITC report says the current reserve will want to go and look for first team football! Why the **** would any footballer want to go to play second fiddle when he’s already number 1 at a club?

Yeah id prefer that away from home n at home play with a no10
I am lost with this terminology. I get centre half, left back and right back, wingers, midfielders. Back in the day, number 11 played on the left wing, 5 was a centre half, 9 was the famous centre forward.
These days numbers are all over the place. What is an 8, or a 10? Used to be inside right and inside left. Life was so much simpler before Alf Ramsey and his wingless wonders. Game’s gone to the dogs.

No8 is someone who will play box to box

No10 will play in behind the striker

So for me away from home we play 433 with 2xno8s going box to box with a defensive midfielder sitting in front of the defence.

At home we should be going 4231, with a no10 type in behind a striker. 1 of the 2 defensive midfielders would play box to box n the offer would sit deeper

Hope that makes sense - for both to work we need to sign a cdm

Could be worth working on on the training ground with next season in mind?

Just play him CB and sign a good DM wouldn’t make sense to me to continue playing a makeshift CB and a CB as a DM.

I think 2nd/3rd goalkeepers should be paid the same as the No.1's. They must get compensated for lack of 1st team action surely?

Me too and I still believe a back 3 of Alese, Ballard and Seelt would suit us but just can’t see it happening. O’Nien gets in, whatever the formation…
I really like O'Nien for his commitment and love for the club, I think his biggest attribute is he can cover a few positions.
I'm certainly not one for slating him as I think he does a decent job at CB, however playing a back 3 I would say our best 3 are Alese, Ballard and Seelt so makes it more baffling that O'Nien plays when we only have 2 CBs.
That's maybe to do with not having a LB when Alese was first back from injury and the coach maybes not thinking Seelt has enough experience, I do think that I would be starting him over O'Nien

Patto isn’t Liverpool standard, indeed their number 2 is a way better keeper.

Doubt there’s owt in that.
He is English so it helps them in Europe. That's why City had Carson in their squad.

i still think putting ballard and him together with onien
in front would of helped with a couple of of are problems with a CDM
I think that could actually be O'Niens best position and I'm not even sure we've ever tried him there, especially not having Evans there all season, other than a striker it's a position we've been missing in all season.
I've said before both TM and Beale know a he'll of a lot more than me and probably the majority of us, but the 2 positions we've been missing this season is CDM and a striker, we've got 4 strikers on the books that have never really been given a chance, we've had O'Nien as an option to play CDM especially when we had extra cover at CB
