Patterson is only 23. That’s still very young for a GK who has played plenty of games at Championship and L1 level. He’ll have a cracking career, I think.

It's a seller's market. Fifteen million cash right now plus add-ons for Patterson.

While it's great having a young and up and coming goalie developing with us there are plenty of finished articles out there who'd do a decent job for next to nothing.

Interesting bit at the end of the post match analysis on Sky with the pundits Jobi McAnuff and Nathan Jones:

JM - Sunderland are missing experience throughout the squad and a number 9. They are things that you can’t cut corners on. I know they’ve got a way of bringing in youth and letting them develop. The experience helps you in those key moments in games that help you get a result when things aren’t going perfectly.

NJ - They are missing two players, for me. A dominant centre back and a number 9. I know O’Nien well and respect him a lot. He is doing a good job as a makeshift central defender. A number 9 won’t just be able to score goals but will also give them a plan B. They can get the ball into them and play off. Because once they are in that final third they’ve got some wonderful individuals.

I agree. Patterson is one of our better assets who I wouldn’t worry about losing.

NJ is exactly right.

Hopefully the club agree and make the moves.

They need to do something mate. Some new signings with experience would give everyone a lift. It's noticeable the fans seem to have turned significantly. Last 3-4 weeks has been poor off and on the pitch.

I must admit I’m struggling atm, just not enjoying it at all.

They need to nail 3 or 4 signings that can hit the ground running but I just don’t see them getting it done or swaying away from young players.

McAnuff and Jones were bang on yesterday. We are desperate for dominance through the spine.

Yeah agree. I think a lot are now. I mean a canny part of our away end seems to be singing, we want a striker yday. That's canny bad for something like that to happen.

I agree with Bishop. The games he played for U23 were concerning

I would prefer Young as our new GK. He lacks experience, so it would be great to loan him this window as we did with Patto

Aye. Highly rated him.
