We don't know that but if an offer has been made then presumably he's at the top of the list.

Tijani is 6ft 3 so if we're looking for a stable shape to the team there's consistency there.

Points to note:
  1. We don't know what's in the budget
  2. There are other requirements: a keeper, at least one CB and at least 1 FB.
  3. 17k tickets at £20 each v Liverpool is £0.34m, less stadium incremental costs plus food & drink income possibly plus TV income.
  4. If we go down, a significant revamp of the squad will be inevitable. What costs could arise from that?

Sky News is saying that Mike Eerdhuijzen is having "reservations" about joining Argyle because of their dodgy league position.

Mike Eerdhuijzen has changed his mind and will not be coming to PAFC.....oh dear that's a problem....do we have to start bribing players to come to a sinking ship.

Maybe he hasn't got the guts and moral that we need to fight on our behalf....so best that he doesn't come

PS.....At least we haven't got the problem of spelling his name....we have enough problems in that department already..
 
He's let himself down very badly over this. It reflects on his mediocre performances over the last 6 months or more.

I have to say if I was the CEO or owner of Middlesbrough I be saying "are you sure?" It seems now he refused to play on Wednesday rather than just being a few minutes late. In retrospect, taken together with his history at Swansea, there must be real questions about his character.

I understand players have to put themselves first in what can be a short career, but in that case, just do your job on a Saturday and don't pretend you've found a home for life.

All I can say is the we need the cash PDQ and spend it equally rapidly - and perhaps better.
 
Morgan Whittaker to Middlesboro for £6million plus add ons....not sure how much Argyle get because there was talk of Swansea getting a reasonable %age from their deal with Argyle.

It is worrying that we are losing our best players and finding it hard to replace them with any quality because of our basement position....are we sinking without any chance of fighting our way out of this....this could be a miserable time upto May for us all.

PS.....Joe reckons 25%......so they get £1.5million.....so we get £4.5million.....+add ons.

Azaz and Whittaker together again.....unfortunately not for us.....we needed to get rid of some players to make room for replacements....from the bottom end of our squad....not the bleeging top end......will we ever win another game in this league..
 
I just watched the recent interview with Andrew Parkinson.

It's a sound CEO's interview, a clear statement of the club's strategy, an outline of the processes by which manager's have been recruited, what's been learned for that, the changes that lay behind Neil Dewsnip's departure, particularly a greater emphasis on an expanded academy, which will in time look to bring in young players from outside the SW and so on and so on. Sound in that he hasn't said anything that we couldn't already have found out by reading all the club's statements in detail, which is exactly as it must be.

I suppose the one thing that we might not have known is that were we to be relegated, he would expect that the club's spending power in League 1 would rank in or very close to the Top 3, depending I suppose in part on who happened to be in the league at the time. That's significantly better than last time we were there and is due to the investment in peripheral activities such as hospitality, Harper's Park, non-football events etc.
 
Refresh my memory but wasn't part of the strategy to use well researched recruitment in the transfer market and an expanding academy to bring players into the team, develop them, sell them on and re-invest the proceeds?

We've sold Dan Scarr, who we got on free for a reported £0.3m, academy product Michael Cooper for £2.5m (ish), Gibson, who we got on a free, for a reported £1.5m and Whittaker, for whom we we paid about £1m for £6m. No fan, including me, likes to see good players leave but it's the only way Argyle can punch above its weight without risking insolvency again.

I'd really rather question whether Morgan Whittaker has been one of our best players lately. He certainly has talent: we saw it early in his time with us, particularly when alongside Finn Azaz. Admittedly, his role has changed: being deployed in an more "out to in" role rather than "in to out", but he hasn't shone that brightly.

Given the manner of his departure and his prominent position in the club and press coverage, I cant help wondering what effect his mood swings have had on the rest of the squad. What we didn't know at 8pm on Wednesday when Argyle ran out against Burnley only to lose heavily, was that a melodrama had been playing out in the dressing room as our "star" player had refused to put his boots on.
 
It's been the policy for a while now to develope and sell on at a profit and that was made plain to all from the outset. As you point out notdistant we have effectively done this a few times now so it's mission accomplished so far. As Joe says he's gone, we made a profit, move on.

About Whittaker as an individual. Tempermental soul and treated as a star player here. Won't be a star where he's going so won't be first on a team sheet. How will he react to the harsh real world out there is anyone's guess. Good player here but like all previous good players, they have moved on and we still exist. I'm not really as disappointed with this as I thought I might be.
 
My biggest concern is whether, money notwithstanding, we have enough time to bring in the several players we need. And them my next biggest is how long it's going to take to get Joe Edwards, Kornel Szucs and Muhamed Tijani back in the team.

Would we have produced some of our poorer performances if Joe Edwards had been on the pitch? There would have been a few who'd have got an earful from him I suspect. A good manager is one thing but having someone actually out there on the pitch to insert rockets as and when required is quite another.
 
If Morgan Whittaker had refused to play...and he was fit to play then he should have been fined.
 
I'm surprised that Tijani is still with us.....a seasons loan yet he has only started one game a been sub for two....and been injured for the rest of the season so far......how soon before he plays ?.....and even then it will be weeks before he is up to speed.
 
I've been trying to workout how many games we have had injured players unavailable....without going into a lot of investigation it is difficult to be sure.

The following players have lost games to being injured or maybe not picked after returning from injury for awhile..........Edwards, Szucs, Cissoko, Hazard, Galloway, Tijani, Grimshaw, Whittaker, Hardie.

I have totalled up.....103 games lost to injury for this group of players....or as I have said not chosen for awhile after injury.

103 games is a lot of lost playing time for in general first choices.....certainly hasn't helped.

Cup games not included.
 
Sky Sports are saying that Argyle are interested in Austrian club Lask's centre back...Maxym Talovyerov (another hard name to spell).

Supposed to be 6ft 5in tall.....and Wiki says he was born in Russia.....could that be a problem.

He has not been the same this season as last, probably has he thought he would get his move in the summer.. He can have has many tantrums now as he wants, we have banked a nice return, can we get a few players in before the end of month, if not lets get on with it and hopefully a few return sooner.. Like joe Edwards he is like 3 new players coming back for me. I dont think we would have lost as many games with him in every game. hey ho. we will be fine. We need to make money from these players and keeps us going. If we stay up its a bonus for me.. but a long way to go yet..
 
He Has officially gone now announced 15 minutes ago i think .. there we have it.. take the money , pay the swans and spend some.. End of a chapter for him here,, not at his best so i think we have done well. he can throw his toys around boro now.. :emoticon-0167-beer::emoticon-0167-beer:
 
The question now is spend it now and hope and pray we stay up or save it for next season and accept our fate. Four and half Million for a one million outlay. Good business that.
