The BBC say that Morgan Whittaker has been performing poorly because Argyle have struggled this season. They obviously haven’t considered that it could be the other way around…….
On a related topic, I’ve seen a few bits of Finn Azaz on TV. He seems to have carried on his form at Argyle. it strikes me that although Azaz is fewer spectacular moments, he is in fact the more influential player. Azaz can play without Whittaker but not the other way around. One thing I should point out is that Azaz is playing in that same central No 10 role, whereas Foster and Rooney both moved Whittaker further out onto the wing.
I see our old mate Joey Barton is on trial for assaulting his wife in a drunken brawl.....pushing her to the ground and kicking her in the head.....charming.
Two defenders being talked about....... 1.....Maksym Taloverov...24yr old 6ft 5in central defender Ukrainian. ......offer in. 2.....Rein Val Helden...22yr old 6ft 2in central defender Belgian.
Maksym Taloverov on his way it seems: £1.7m having a medical tomorrow (Tuesday). https://www.plymouthherald.co.uk/sport/football/plymouth-argyle-ukraine-defender-talovierov-9896470
Done deal subject to medical. 3.5 year deal allegedly. We are splaching the cash a bit aren't we. Probably have the most expensive team in league one next season...........
There is talk that Ibrahim Cissoko has left PAFC ? It does seem that his style will not fit in with Miron Muslic's way of playing and he will just become a luxury that Argyle cannot afford.
It seems that we where bringing in U21 Slovenian international Adrian ZeljkoviAas from Spartak Trnava. But his transfer has been stopped because a work permit has not been granted.
We don't know what Miron Muslic's way of playing is yet. I can't find the quote now but he said that now was not the time to be focussing on formations or tactics but simply for each player to show courage, win their individual duels and support each other. That's what happened at Burnley. He also made the point that he's been in post 14 days and had 4 competitive games in that time. The day of the game, the day immediately after it and then the day before the next game are not full training days. This is the first week of training he's had to start to mould the team. Cissoko is what you might call "mercurial". Devastating one minute and slapdash the next. Once the rest of the team are restored to some sort of solidity, maybe he will get a game.
We do seem to have a problem convincing our transfer targets to come to Argyle.....while our relegation neighbours are all strengthening their squads....only four days left to strengthen our own squad....be surprised if anyone coming in will play against WBA on Saturday.
Did we not have first chance on young Parkway player Dylan Jones....who has had trials at Brentford and more recently Norwich (scoring twice for them in a trials match).....or is local talent not wanting to play for us as well as transfer targets.
Just watched Miron Muslic's pre-match interview for the West Brom game. He always says the right thing, even in a foreign language. There's discussion about the week's training. He says the Sunderland game is the new base point and we move forward from there, but then he's asked how desperate he is to get new players in before the window closes. He's right on that one. Desperate - not at all. That's a word never to be used. For him, it's not about signing players quickly, it's about signing the right players. He thinks there will be announcements soon.
He's very forthcoming about players. I hope it doesn't come back to bite him one day. He more or less confirms that the club are in negotiations with defender Maksym Talovierov and midfielder Adrian Zeljkovic. He's asked about loanees Michael Obafemi Ibrahim Cissoko. He's been very pleased with Michael Obafemi training this week. He wants to play and he wants to be here. He's asked if Cissoko is training and will be available for Saturday. He's says can't confirm that. Kornel Szucs is about 10 days away from being available for selection.
It seems that Bosnian international..Niko Katic 28yr old 6ft 4in central defender is coming on loan from Zurich.
INCOMING Maksym Talovierov 24yr old..6ft 5in central defender has sign a three and a half year contract for a record fee (£1.7million ?) from Lask in Austria.
Done subject to international clearance and EFL approval. Fee of €2m or £1.7m, a club record. https://www.pafc.co.uk/news/maksym-talovierov-signs-argyle
