Weren’t there serious allegations or something but they turned out to be baseless and possibly influenced by homophobia? I don’t know, I just remember a discussion on here a few years ago about it. I seem to also remember he went to work for female academies after leaving us, possibly because it’s a more tolerant environment. I think it’s telling that there are no openly gay or bisexual players in England’s top four professional men’s leagues, except for that academy player at Blackpool but he’s spent most of his time so far on loan at non-league teams.

The men’s game is more tolerant and forgiving of ****bag rapists and wife-beaters than openly-gay players despite the empty PR stuff like rainbow armbands.

This might be true but we will never know until there are openly gay players

In my opinion we need one centre forward and two full backs, I'm guessing the renegotiations on Puerta will be to try and get out of it if we get relegated, but should be OK if we stay up.

We've 5 fit centre mids including Puerta (Slater, Alzate, Crooks, Puerta and Palmer). If we don't play Puerta then we are a bit light there. Have I forgotten anyone?

I suppose one of the positives if we stay up is that we don’t have to completely overhaul the squad, especially the midfield, in the summer transfer window.

I’d say it’s likely we’ll sell Mehlem and Simons as they’re both doing well on loan and Paderborn and Wycombe have buy-options. We might sell Palmer and/or Ömür too. Ecuadorian news sources seem to think we have, or will, exercise the buy-option for Zambrano and I think we’ll buy Puerta.

Going into next season our midfield options look pretty good:
Alzate
Puerta
Crooks
Zambrano (if his suspension is reduced)
Slater
Matazo (possibly returns for second half of next season at least)
