watching a bit of the blackburn game
which made me look at their jan transfers in

its honestly insane how much of a pull we have, that we can sign the players we have near the relegation zone
blackburns incomings are utter meh
owners dont want to pump any money in
I have a Blackburn supporting mate who says that the players are knackered, and don't have the funds to do anything about it.

It’s not bad no, but it paints the picture of local coaching standards.

Any parents with ambition for their kids round here would be trying to get them in at Leeds and the blunts
Who was the last young player from the Hull/East Riding to come through the Sheff Utd Academy and make the first team?
Now compare those figures to those who have done the same at City and gone onto to make a first team debut recently.
Leeds don't fare much better than Sheff Utd either but they have had one or two over the last twenty odd years. We've had more 'rejects' from Leeds Utd Academy play for City though.

When I was involved, the Hull Sunday League was known as one of the better ones, certainly better than the likes of Selby. So much so, parents with "aspirations" for their kids would travel miles on a regular basis just to get their kid into one of the clubs that scouts would frequent more often.

The problem was then, as I'm sure is now, that the likes of Leeds, and even the Manchester clubs, would be scouting the same teams/games and had more of a pull than City's academy did.
Because we didn't have an Academy then. I'm talking of the late 60's/70/80 through to the 90's when a Dolan led City did away with the youth set up completley. We had a bit of success in bringing youngsters through in the early 80's when Chris Chilton and Bernie Bielstien? were involved with the Juniors but the actual Academy at City is relatively a new concept.

We signed him on December 12th, it’s the first thing on this thread.

OK, but has Chazz seen him play? and Kalman dismissed him as too lightweight in midfield?, or has Syd seen an FFP dodge? Or are Newcastle and Howden just underplaying our academy given the viewpoint it being pretty successful over the last few years... ??!!

Stay tuned folks...

But as soon as you raise the level for the best of our locals by brining outsiders....

It's a problem?

Andre Brooks, Ollie Arblaster, Femi Seriki all 3 this season. They’re comfortably the best cat 2 academy up north

Also depends what you class as a city academy player.

Vaughan isn’t.
TSF isn’t.
Bowen wasn’t.

KLP, Greaves, Jacob,Fleming and Andy Smith are the only pure products in recent years. Only 2 of them have fully broke through too

I think you've missed the point that we're trying to raise the standard of recruitment even at that level.

The best local lads will get in I'm sure.

I've not missed anything, you've named me as underplaying out academy so I want to know what I've said for you to drag me into one of your pointless posts.... Or have you just made it up pissed?

I think you're picking over a generalised post.

Goodnight Howden. And perhaps check your own greenhouse before you pick up stones.
